Any time you feel suffocated by it. Abusive behavior can come in the form of verbal or physical or both. Not good. You need counseling if you are experiencing these things.

It becomers possesiveness when love continues for a long time, and there's commitment. Possesiveness is in some ways, a desire for commitment, and moral control. Also when when the gf is being a stuborn relationship coward, and the man wants rightful commitement, which he should have. When you say abusive, do you mean the man spanks the gf out of necessity? That's not so bad. But when he hits her with a bat or fist- that's very bad, and that's abuse. Jealousy only gets to that point, when anger, possesiveness, and alcohol are mixed. But not all men are drinkers. That's all true! But in all honesty, when it comes to love, and posseiveness, ect, everyone (man and/or woman) acts differently as a result of it all.

It becomes possessiveness when the other person does not want you to have any contacts with friends or family. When they check on everything that you do and when you do it. Jealousy goes into abusive behavior when they touch you in anyway while they are mad or upset. It is even abuse it they cut off all contact from your friends and family, when your whole life is being controlled by the other person.
