The Makarov CZ-52 is single-action only, meaning that the hammer must be ****** before firing the first round.

and yes...what you're describing is normal because you have an empty magazine and an empty chamber.

PS...It's called a magazine....not a clip.

The CZ52 is single action. Meaning for the first shot the hammer must be manually ******. Either by raising it by hand or working the action.
The other type is Double action where pulling the trigger will raise the hammer.

Your CZ-52 is operating correctly.

and for the other poster claiming it to be a Makarov, the CZ52 is not a Makarov. They are 2 very different guns.

I would have to say that if you do not know the type, proper terms, and/or how to operate your firearm, you should probably not buy any ammunition, and lock the gun in a safe place. Firearms are a privilage for the responsible.

no it is not supposed to go up when the gun is unloaded. you need the shell to go off to push the slide back and the slide pushes the hammer back. P.S. you know very little about guns and therefore give the gun to your parents

I am very concerned by this and your other post.
A manual can probably be obtained from:
www.CZUSA.com (info@)
It is probably a good thing that you don't yet have any ammo.
PLEASE get some training before you load the thing.

I hope with your knowledge of firearms and shooting, that before you buy ammo. you will look up somebody to help you learn safety and proper gun-handling, before somebody really gets hurt or killed.

I not sure I understand what you are saying, but, I never Dry Fire a gun, the hammer is designed to hit something and it "Could" cause damage. I not know if this is true, but, I never Dry Fire a gun.
