ughh so i just got my report card today and rather disappointed. Is a 3.84 GPA good? there are like 20 people in my class who are all tied for number one because they have 4.0's. I would be fine if it was like 3.9 something. It was all because of my stupid freshman year and i got a C in history and a couple B's. This year i tried really hard to get straight A's and I did. I'm entering my junior year next year. How much could my GPA go up if i got straight A's junior & senior year? I just feel soo dumb now, is this okay for good colleges? I hope i do good on my ACTs next year too >.<

It is FANTASTIC!! Congratulations on such a good grade. It is still an A so don't feel disappointed. You don't have to be the BEST in the class for grades. You just be you and do your best. That is all that matters. If you get straight A's for the rest of your HS career, you should be pretty close to that 3.9 you want, but even if you don't. You have done well.

If you get all A's you can really make it to 3.9 but I don't know if you have that "Credit system" in your school, meaning that if you take a class with a lot of credits and get an A, the class is worth more so you GPA goes up even more, for example, you are taking a PE class and get an A but is only 1 credit, your GPA won't change that much, but then you take Honors English 4 or AP Literature and it is worth 10 credits and you get an A, you GPA would really increases...

You will be fine. In fact, once you're enrolled in college, your high school GPA means nothing anymore.
When people start looking to hire you after college, they'd rather you have around a 3.5 GPA and also have been active in campus clubs and events, than to hire a 4.0 GPA student that did not participate in anything.

?? What school uses a completely different scale? Regardless, you take all of your letter grades. Look at your letters. Add 1 for every "D", 2 for every "C", 3 for every "B", and 4 for every "A". Now take that number and divide it by the total number of grades. e.g. Susan has taken 2 semesters of college. In the first semester, she received 2 "B"s, 2 "A"s and 1 "C". In the second semester, she received 3 "B"s and 2 "C"s. She has 10 grades total. In her first semester she had a total of 16 points (3+3+4+4+2), and had a total of 13 (3+3+3+2+2) in her second. All together, she has a total of 29 points (16+13). Now divide her total points 29 by the total number of grades (10) to get 2.9 GPA. Hope that helps. :0)

That is a great score. Just keep trying. I think that anything above a 3.5 is a great grade.

Thats very good, the ones with 4.00 gpa's have no life and thrive on reading books and playing with swords.
