Your son will now have another charge added. It's called Failure to Appear and usually costs around $250 dollars.
He must call the courthouse ASAP and explain to them that he missed his court date. Try to come up with a good reason for missing it. A few things may happen. If they are nice they will grant an extension and set another court date. If they are not nice a warrant will go out and your son will either have to send in the payment for failure to appear and the speeding charge or not pay and get arrested eventually. The main thing to do is call them, explain the situation, and ask what his options are. If he isn't fighting the speeding ticket just go up and pay it. They will usually offer a payment plan in some cases. Tell him to try and be nice and maybe he won't have to pay the Failure to Appear fine.

Depending on the court procedure or really on the whims of the judge, a warrant for failure to appear may be issued for his arrest. At the very least, an order will be issued to suspend his operator's license. Will the police come knocking on his door to make the arrest? Probably not, but if he's pulled over he'll be arrested for the warrant and also charged with operating on a suspended license. My suggestion would be to go and see the judge at the first available time and resolve the issue so the order and warrant can be recalled.

Yes a warrant will be issued, but he's in luck...the jails are so overcrowded that even if he has a warrant, most states will give him yet ANOTHER ticket (yes, you heard me right) to clear the warrant out of the system. Call your local sheriff or police warrants division and have them look up his name and let you know how much the "bail" is. If it's under a certain amount (in CA it's $2000) they will not take him to jail, but give him another ticket. His fine will be a bit heftier than just the speeding ticket though. Good Luck

Well there is a good chance that a warrant will be issued. Due to the fact that he was on the court's docket and he wasted the courts valuable time. Warrants are usually issued at the end of the day and all of the paperwork is completed by the next day and the warrants are entered into the law enforcement computers. He would then be arrested on the warrant and a bail would have to be posted. In most cases part of this or all of this bail may be used to pay towards his fines. I would recommend you son speak to his attorney if he has one.

Yes a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Your son should contact the courts to see what his next step should be. And when he goes to court he should have the amount of the ticket just in case he's found guilty.

He needs to go down to the court and ask what to do at the appropriate window. He needs to take care of this himself. A warrant may or may not be issued, courts vary county by county and state by state. He should go to the court first thing in the morning, that way he may prevent a warrant from being issued. One time I walked up to the court window and the lady there was literally about to process a warrant for me. It was sitting on her desk! Luckily, because I showed up in person I was able to stop this from happening and instead just make a payment on the original fine.

Yes, a warrant is probably issued. Most likely they won't come for him at his residence, however, if he is caught with another traffic violation or a cop just happens to run his plates it will show and he will be arrested.
Have your son GO to court tomorrow and try to straighten it out. It's very possible they will lift the warrant.

They won't come beating down the door, but if he doesn't go up and pay it, he'll get a nice letter in the mail informing him that there is a warrant out for his arrest.
Call the police station or the court, explain that he missed his court date and will be in ASAP to pay the ticket.
