First, stay away from the populated areas, especially transportation hubs, major intersections, and infrastructure such as power plants, major transmission lines.
Second, select a hiding place that provides a lot of cover, such as mountains or forests. Preferably both. Make certain that you have an excellent vantage point where you can see approaching troops, but where they can't see you. Minimize any smoke from campfires or cookfires. You will also need to make sure that you have access to water. Disguise your bivouac heavily with tree branches.
Third, while you have a good retreat, make certain that you have a number of different escape routes in case your position is happened upon by enemy forces.
You should have several months of supplies laid in. All of your food should be either canned or freeze dried if possible. You should also have medical supplies, extra clothing, and fuel. If you don't have water purification tablets, boil your water if it comes from mountain streams, for Giardia makes for a very uncomfortable existence. In addition, you will need quickly learn how to live off the land by foraging for food.
After the initial fighting passes, watch for patrols. If there are more than one of you, have watches posted night and day, preferably with binoculars and/or night vision equipment.
Then, after several weeks, it makes sense to quietly patrol your own territory. See what has happened to the locals. If you trust somebody, approach them and find what the situation is. Steal a radio if you don't have one already.
If the front has stabilized, determine if you want to infiltrate back out to friendly lines. If so, listen to the radio and talk to trusted sources to find out where fighting is least active. Infiltrate through rough areas, preferably moving at night or during bad weather to cover your movement.

Apparently, in a mosque.
Learn from our enemy. Hide in plain sight... then, under cover of darkness or under the pretext of lawful assembly (i.e. religious observance) gather to plan and coordinate an insurgency. You don't need rank or a uniform to set an IUD. You don't need command and control infrastructure to set off a bomb in a marketplace.
Since any invading army cannot pacify an entire civilian population, the trick is to just blend in. You'll find yourself behind enemy lines, exploiting and manipulating the very infrastructure the invaders must maintain to enforce their order. The invaders can't withold food and water - not for humanitarian reasons, but because they need to keep the docile population from rioting if basic needs are not met. So, all you need to is cache weapons, explosives and/or the means to make and deliver explosives.
It's working very well for the insurgency in Iraq.
That's why the Nazis (who were much better at invading and occupying than the US has been) made such a concerted effort to displace invaded peoples from their homes and break up their social networks.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

That would depend on the type of army. An army using Guerilla tactics is diffrent from an organized army from a first world country.
It also would depend on whether that army would murder civilians or not (and whether or not your a civilian).
Probably the best plan would be to hide in a cave, forest, or another non-urban area. Out of the army's path of course. And circle back to your home when the army has moved though. Carry what food you can on you and store canned goods and water in your basement. Or, if your really paranoid bury it. Stick to canned food and bottled beverages that are easy to restock on and won't attract animals.

In Okinawa during WWII,
The islanders hid in Tombs and Caves. At Least until the Japanese army kicked them out and told them to commit suicide before being raped and tortured by the US.
So, I guess as long as the country defending you isn't against you you could hide in Tombs or Caves.
If you are being invaded, you may not have enough time to think about food storage. You just might have to get by for a bit.

There are few places to effectively hide. The longer the occupation the harder it is to remain undetected. The only long term survival has occurred by disappearing into a jungle or any dense plant life where you can hide and find food and water undetected. Most important, you have to avoid populated areas or main roads.

Their home country's back yard. An invading army can't be at two places at once and Hanibal found this out the hard way.
