Monday was the race and the day France died. Normally, because the race was Monday, we wouldn't here anything until Wednesday but the high ups were in a little bit of a dizzy with memorial services and the funeral, give them a break. Don't look for Busch to be sitting out this week, if it is a suspension, it will bring an immediate appeal. Nascar will probably be looking at it like they have handed down some of the penalty. People have to remember, they parked him on Monday, rightly so. This will probably make the actual penalty look a little lighter than people might think or want. Some of the wait is also Nascar debating exactly how hard it is going to be. Nascar is in a tight spot on this one. They talk of safety all the time and have a driver put someone in danger. There are going to be people no matter how hard they might come down that don't think it is hard enough. I guess we are going to see 100 points and 100 grand. I'm curious if they will do the driver and owner points like they do when cheating.

It's got to the be funeral that's slowing this process down otherwise in a normal week I think we'd have heard something. Also with the Prelude To The Dream last night this has hardly been a typical week. I also agree we are probably going to see some drastic consequences for Kurt Busch. I'm sure NASCAR is alerting the owner and driver ahead of the announcement to give them time to be prepared when the news hits. I think tomorrow we'll know. I can't imagine we'd go to another race like nothing happened.

This is because of the passing of Bill France Jr. His funeral is today. Show a little respect ok. NASCAR will get back to business on Friday and deal with Kurt Busch then. NASCAR knows what they are doing. RIP Bill, you'll be missed.

Usually for a Sunday race, fines etc. are handed down on Tuesday.
The race was run on Monday, which would mean that the review time would put it to at least Wednesday.
But since the folks at NASCAR also need to focus on honoring Bill France, Jr. and putting together the logistics of his memorial service on Thursday, not announcing anything regarding Idiot Busch until Friday makes sense for me.
And if his hauler and crew go out to Pocono in time to discover that the Idiot isn't allowed to race this weekend, all the better.

I agree it should be a no brainer. The last time a crew member was killed on pit road ( Rudd smashing Elliot's rear tire guy Mike Ritch) they made drastic changes so these thing will never happen again. I think if there ever was a time for a very sever penalty it is now.
They have to make it unbelievably bad because they are ready have made unbelievable fines and suspension for the wrong bolts and brackets / and racing additives which is not a matter of life or death.

I'm sure it's because of the funeral. But this will also give Busch time to worry and wonder about it. I bet he will get hit pretty hard by Nascar.

Well, you do need to consider the death and funeral of Bill France. But Fri. it'll be back to business. Seems to be though Kurt would already be at the track practicing by then, so they need to tell him something before he goes to the track to get all ready for a race he's not going to be in.

It's just that this week is more like a week of mourning for NASCAR, not an appropriate time to announce penalties or anything like that.
It's not surprising, and either way, Kurt Busch will most likely be punished, it just comes down to how harsh NASCAR will be.
I don't blame you for not understanding the circumstances, for a while even I was surprised that NASCAR hasn't done anything.

I was surprised there was no announcement today too. Tomorrow is Mr. France's funeral and I think they decided to give him that day, instead of a day full of controversy.
I take the delay as meaning the penalty will be extremely severe, if it were 100 points and $100,000 there would be no controversy and it would have been announced this morning.
Look for a suspension of 2 to 4 races which will mean no chase for K Busch.
