I graduated college over a year ago. Since then I have started my own company and moved to NYC. I need to be in the office by 9 every morning, which means I need to get up at 6:30. The problem is I absolutely can not fall asleep before 2. If I go to bed at 12 I will lay in bed for 2 hours, no matter how much sleep I got the night before.
Sleeping pills help but when I wake up I feel extremely tired like I didn't sleep well. I have tried herbal remedies, teas, etc. I even didn't sleep one night and ended up going to bed at 1 the next night, so that didn't really help.
Any ideas?

Do not drink any caffeinated beverages (including tea and certain sodas like Coke) after 3:00pm. Also, don't eat any huge meals or snacks after around 7:00pm because they will give you more energy. Try exercising during the day to really tire your body out, even going for a walk instead of driving somewhere is efficient exercise.
When you are unable to fall asleep, do NOT just lie there and keep waiting. Reading, writing or watching tv are all good activities that should help make you sleepy. Chatting, talking on the phone, or doing activities on the computer will stimulate your brain and keep you awake. Even gradually going to bed earlier a half hour earlier every few nights is productive and will eventually get you to where you need to be. Good luck!

I have a few suggestions that I think you might consider. You are trying to implement a bedtime routine, and would like to go to bed @ midnight. Okay, first lets implement a routine for the next day. Just like a mom lay out your clothes, maybe take a shower to relax or save time, put everything that you need to take with you on the counter next to your wireless phone that should be charging. Setting up a routine is good for the wind down for me.
I recommend getting a fan, so the white noise of the fan, will trigger a sleep reflex.
Also, its very important to listen to your body.
Not sleeping is like a red flag. Remember your nourishment - drink lots of water, you may be dehydrated from soda or coffee. A good rule of thumb is for ea bad drink, treat yourself to water.
If you need to get up @ 6:30 you might want to consider taking a nap when you get home for a week, and really sleep until your body wakes itself up. By letting your body adjust you might be able to determine your body's messages. Kinda, like unfinished business.
This would break up your pattern, and allow you to make the necessary changes.
whatever you believe, your right. Don't think negative before bed, Instead think OMG I get to go to bed, and think about who you want to see in your dreams.
When you do this, you will start solving things in your sleep. Works like a charm. Good Night. You should start you routine NOW.

Get a guy like big black, 300 lbs mybe even step it up a notch to 350 or so. Make sure he has one of those fat rolls behind his head and a double chin don't help either. Buy him a bucket of chickin from time to time to keep him happy. When bed time comes, make sure that bastard tells you like "get the fu#k to sleep mothafu#ka!" and have him watch over you for the first couple nights, a potential *** beating from an ebonic, ghetto mofo ain't no fun and you should have a newly well rounded sleeping pattern the first night. =)

i have the same problem.when im able to do it, heres what i do:get up early...earlyyy and do some exercise, but not a lil workout, i mean a proper beasting, stay away from the caffiene, but above all, when u get in from work, unwind to the max, cos its stresses keeping u awake , especially if u have ur own business.......empty ur mind, get ur knob sucked

talk to a doctor, you could have more going on then you may know ! it could be a Medical Condtion you don't know about which can do that to you ! you really need to be seen by someone for it ! good luck !
