ok so i have a mini doxen puppy and shes usually really hyper and playful and usually doesn't wear a collar [only a harness to walk] , but we just bought her a collar the other day and when we put it on her she all of a sudden gets really calm, tired, and almost lethargic. The weird thing is, when we take it off she goes back ot being hyper and we jokingly put it on when she gets out of control and it calms her down.
does anyone know why this happens or has had it happen to their dog.
do you think she just feels weird? and will she always be like this?

its not a shock collar or spiked collar btw , its just regualr cloth

its not too tight either we made extra loose, its not for walking [ bc doxens need harness collars bc reg ones can hurt their backs], only for her to wear her dog tags

Um'well good Question ......It could be that it makes her some what submissive esp.if she hasn't been use to wearing one to being with.
It could scare her too?
I'd give it a lil while ,however if you use the collar to calm her down when she is hyper etc...
then she may never want to wear it due to thinking it is used to correct her ....
So i would advice not to use it as a threat to her or calm her down or to tease her ,or just to see her reaction!
remember you never want to break an animals spirit !!

The collar you bought was probably either a little to tight and it makes her tired all of a sudden or she hates wearing it. If she hates wearing it try training her to be used to it.

ASIDE FROM PERCEIVED WEIRD BEHAVIOR IN DOGS WEARING SPIKED DOG COLLARS,I HAVE OBSERVED THAT MANY OLDER TEEN-YOUNG ADULTS "PUNK ROCKERS"IN EUROPE CHOOSE TO WEAR SPIKED DOG COLLARS AROUND THEIR NECKS-perhaps this 'fadish' behavior is part of the 'image' which they choose to project as a common symbol of "union" to their cultural subgroup.

It's not exactly normal but it's really really good for you, since doxies can get too hyper for their own good, LOL. She just calms down, is all.

it's just something new. try leaving it on her for a day and see what happens she should get use to it and not have any problems.
