I am trying to tapper from Lexapro. I was taking 10mg for the lats 12 months. I went down to 5mg everyday for about 3 weeks, then 5mg every other day for a week and then 5mg every three days. Then the problems started. First 4 days were horrible, I wanted to crawl of my skin. The half of 5th and 6th day were very good, now today sucks again, but not that hard likie it used to. My head feels like in cloud, I am off balance, no energy, depression, headache, no apetite, sick, foggy. My doc wanted me to go back to 5mg a day to see if it helps. What should I do, am I too far to go back???

Get back on it. The withdraw will eventually stop - but who knows when. Get back on and you can always try to taper off again later. I have been there - it is not fun. But - it was much easier (and successful) the second time. Good luck!

Go back to 5mg and take some benadryl, if your skin is crawling, but most of all do it as the doctor says or ask him to put you on maybe Paxil or something with less side effects when you want to ween off it, I haven't tried this one but the new one on TV Cymbalta? ask your doctor. Bless you this is hard I've been there but what worked for me might not work for you, But I got tired of feeling like that and it took about three months but I cold turkey after that it's a *****.. wish you well baby!!

My friend was on Lexapro and weaned herself off it. The first few nights she had nightmares but it finally stopped. She's been off for about 10 days now and is not showing any side effects.

I'm not a doctor but suggest you keep trying to get off this drug. Look at a site called "The Road Back" it is loaded with good information. See link below. Explore the site for links to suggested supplements to take that will help you with your withdrawal symptoms. Good luck as its not easy but worth the effort to get off if you can do it.

iam on lexapro 10mgs 3 times a day,do as your dr. says ,it is too risky maybe he can put you on something else but you must hang in there ,you must taper off with a dr. directions ,it is not wise to do it without medical asst.

Do as your Doctor saids to do ! They should know what is best, and what does it hurt to try and see if it helps. It can't make you feel worse ! Maybe next time come off more slower then you did this time. give your body time to adjust with out the med, next time! good luck!

I'd do whatever your doctor tells you. That kind of medication isn't something to mess around with -- if you try making up your own rules, you could do some serious damage.
