He often tells me how I'm feeling, and won't believe me. I'm just generally annoyed by him, and feel like he doesn't respect me or care about my opinions.

He cares about you and is trying to check up on your well being.

Communication is what it's all about. Tell your dad exactly what you told us, but in a more polite way.

For example, you could say, "Hey Dad, I've noticed that you seem to be worried about my health a lot recently, but I really feel just fine. Is there a reason you're so concerned?"

Or if he doesn't get the message, try saying, "Dad, I appreciate that you care so much about me, but it's a little bit frustrating to have to tell you all the time that I'm ok. I would appreciate it if you believed me when I tell you I'm fine."

Or if he still doesn't get it, try explicitly telling him, "Dad, I'm fine! Leave me alone!!!" ;)

My dad won't leave me alone, he never believes me when I say I'm fine, and he doesn't listen.?

when you just say " Im fine" and that is it...

you leave him completely out of the loop....

so once you do that...men lose interest quickly and we can only assume because YOU refuse to talk...

when you tell him what he needs to hear instead of what you think he wants to hear...

and he is willing to SHUT UP AND LISTEN...(provided you talk) THEN PROGRESS WILL BE MADE...

not before..

he really cares about you and wants to protect you from what will hit you in the world of independence. When you on your own, no one is gonna give you a break. It's gonna be so dang hard you'd wish you were my age. (15) Maybe he doesn't believe you because you're giving he the wrong vibe (kinda like rebellion)

Family counseling might be in order. Tell him straightly that he has got to start listening to your point of view or he's giong to lose your respect all together.

He may not. He has seen you as a child and may not be up to speed with the current you. Keep loving him and realize that neither of you are perfect. He'll come around.
