trinity is not monotheism. the doctrine behind trinity is that there are 3 persons that make up one. 1+1+1=1. monotheism is that you say there is only 1=1 not 3=1. you believe God is God and there is no other. that Jesus is God manifested in the flesh and when we die you will only see God. you will not see Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. only one. and the name given to that one would be Jesus

monotheism is belief in One God
polytheism is belief in more then one God

how i understand is that most trinitarians believe they think they are saying One God. but they say it is made up of 3 persons or dieties or whatever. as i said below i consider this 3 gods or whatever then. i dont think God would need help. and you are telling me that when God was made whenever that was that all 3 persons or dieties were came about at the exact time. for the Bible says God is alpha and omega but so is Jesus. again i say God is God and no other form. i believe God was powerfull to make this world then he can surely be Jesus and the Holy Ghost as well. without having them seperate from him to make up God.

also Jesus prayed to himself. he still had flesh. we all have our flesh but we all have a spirit too. Jesus had a spirit but his spirit was God. just like we can get the Holy Ghost as well as loose it. Jesus had the Holy Ghost in him or God both the same. but he had flesh as well. he also had to show us how things were to be. like he did not need to be baptized but he did it to show us we need to as well.

You're right and you're wrong....

The people who believe in the trinity BELIEVE in one God (certainly in practice, and in their understanding of the Trinity).

Logically, however, they have great trouble holding on to the Trinity and monotheism.

I have critiqued it by saying:

"If the Hindus said, 'All of our million gods are really just members of a Gigainity (as opposed to Trinity), and there is really just one God, but he is eternally existent as a million different persons,' Christians would be upset. They would say this is nothing but polytheism."

Ah, but when it's just three persons in the one God...well, that is the Trinity.

It is an extrapolation of scripture, and not scripture itself. That is, it is the development of theologians, and not specifically indicated that way in scripture.

That would contradict countless other Scriptures that tell us that God is one and that there is only one God. Three times in Isaiah 45 alone, He states: “I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me”

the New Testament especially presents God as a Trinity (three Persons but only one God)...The Old Testament hints at the plurality of God, and the New Testament clarifies this plurality with the doctrine of the Trinity. Obviously, there is no way we can fully understand how this works – but God has given us enough information to know that He does exist in three Persons, - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

No, the Trinity is not polytheistic, whether plain or complex. If God is Love then He must be more than one person but one being. If Father ,Son and Holy Ghost were 3 beings and essenses then that would be polytheism but Trinitarian Christians believe that God is one and absolutely one Being ofconsubstantial persons. "Persons"in the Godhead should not be confused with human persons who are separate beings as well as distinct personalities and God-created selves and are not infinite or eternal, but everlasting in spirit.

TRINITARISM IS DEFINITELY POLYTHESM The Bible doesn not teach trinityism Jesus never made the claim to be equal to his father, if he was one & the same who did he pray to when in the garden, then turn himself down

(Hebrews 5:7) 7 In the days of his flesh [Christ] offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear. . .

(John 14:28) 28 YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.

Pretty much yes. Considering Yahweh was part of a pantheon and he was the last one left standing (after the slaughter) this really should surprise us.
