quote the bible in here, do they know what they are quoting by heart or are they just copying???
why is it that many times the quote doesnt seem to have any relationship with the question?
a- that is the only thing they know by heart so they just quote the only quote they know regardless of connection to the question.
b- they cannot find a suitable quote for the question so they open the bible at random an let the spirit decide...(with 20000 pages the bible has i understand you cannot find a "logical" answer/quote quick enough...it is understandable)

I do not think the Bible has 20,000 pages.
My Bible (including the appendix, index, and reference information) only has 1659 pages.
My Biblical answers are always relative to the question.
Also, yes, there are more proclaimed Christians without a firm foundation in Bible truth, than there are of Christians that do.

Oh, I think it is safe to generalize here. I will answer honestly for myself.

It is rare that someone asks for a Bible quote and when they do it is rarely one I have memorized or "live in."

If I cannot find a suitable quote I try to avoid it. I confess at times I have said "well I remember one that basically meant..." But, I try to avoid that because ...what were we talking about?

SO how do I do it? I have spent the better part of my life reading the word and having is shoved down my throat (so it seemed in my youth). Pastor sermons, Sunday School, Christian University, Bible devotions, little cards with scriptures on them etc... So I have a pretty good idea about key words that will help me find what I am looking for when needed. Thanks to www.biblegateway.com I can use their keyword search in any translation I wish and search for something that is meaningfull, in my opinon, to the persons question.

I have a problem with generalizing about ANY group, not just Christians. I dislike generalizations about atheists, Asians, blondes, any group regardless of how they are grouped. Generalizing about any group devalues individuals. It is lazy thinking. It demonstrates the inability of the generalizer to think past generalizations.

As to quoting the Bible, I may not know the verse by heart but I usually know where to find the one I’m looking for.

Maybe their one of those people that believe if you open the bible, it will open to the page that answers your question. Maybe their doing that and don't realize that, NO!!! It doesn't answer the question.

How big is the text in that bible you are looking at? 20,000 pages?

Yes, I know you are exaggerating. I'm just teasing you. :)

Blessed be.
