Even though it is still the best selling book throughout time, most people still can not claim that they have already read the bible thoroughly.
Is there a bible version that is so narrative that you can regard it as a novel (easy to read and understand also thrilling)?

Unfortunately, that is no good, for only as a WHOLE do you have the WHOLE....

Try reading 1 book a month, and study by asking God questions whenever you read something you do not understand.....do not get discouraged....it gets easier and easier and easier lol I began reading the King James Bible at around 4 years old...just me and God...since then, have read it many times over, lol
Trust God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to guide and teach you. You'll do fine! :)

*boring? hmmmm....you are meeting your Father for the very first time....you want to know EVERYTHING about Him....the first time round, skip the begat's if you must, but, read it as though you are hearing it the very first time ever! Ask questions! Do not be afraid any are to silly or you're asking too many! God doesn't count the questions as bad....it is GOOD to ask! Meet the Father, understand Him like you never have before! By the time you get to the New Testament, you will be so surprised at how close you feel to God...and will understand Him like you never thought before!

Forget how learned you are...go as a child....for, to God, that is what you are...so, relax and enjoy! :)

The Bible is a book of books. The beginning is actually amazing and beautiful. The stories are true and thrilling. A lot of different versions actually take things out. People say the King James Version is hard to read or understand but it was actually written at a fourth grade reading level. If you read it wanting to get more than a good story out of it you will. You will find wonderful life changing truths. The Bible was not meant to be just entertaining- it was meant for instruction, encouragement, conviction, and many other things.

The Bible is not really a book but a collection of books written over a long period of time by many authors. Some of it is incredibly tedious (all those genealogies); some of it is historically interesting, much of it is morally dubious (all those massacres, rapes, incest and violence in the OT) and a lot of it is just nonsense (Genesis, Noah's flood, Revelation). You could not create a readable version that was true to the original.

There is a book called "The Bible designed to be read as literature" which is highly edited.

You could have been writing my biography, but life is very different today without that family. I did not overcome what you speak of until I let go of the notion of a god that now I see was silly indeed. I now know that the whole religion thing was part of what kept me in that prison of fear. Once I gave that up, the dire situations I got myself into simply evaporated and life just got better and bettr. It is (I think) impossible to give up a belief in the biblical god without having another worldview to replace it. I encourage you to consider the idea that the cruel, unloving, and misogynistic god of the bible is not worthy of YOUR respect. If you can take that step, and stop trying to be worthy of God's respect (because you will never git it from "Him"), you can do a lot to change your level of self-esteem. I'm not saying that you have to give up the idea of a god, if it gives you comfort. I am saying that it is time to think about whether or not the definition of god that you have been given is reasonable. If you think about it, it is not. I have a very different definition of a god-concept. It is consistent with all sciences. It does not place god above me, either making me do things or judging me prior to sending me to Hell. My god-concept is the "energy" that I use as I manifest things in my life. This places the god-concept at the bottom and me at the top. It is the servant and I am the master. With an outlook like that, you will not spend a minute worrying if some mythical god will love you or not. You will learn how to love yourself. Until you do that, you cannot love another.

Because its a huge book, reading a narrative is easy but thats not the same as reading say the King James version cover to cover!

Like anything the Bible is best understood in the context and history in which it was written.

There are a number of literary devices and poetical devices with which most are not familiar, that combined with a general lack of history and geograpy , can make for reading but not comprehending.

When you don't comprehend something it gets boring and you quit.

Because most people aren't very smart and the Bible is some hard reading to be sure. It takes time and patience.
Also, the beginning is REALLY boring.

I did twice from Genesis to Revelation. Jumping back and forth is the way churches use for the brainwash.
