The Martin M-130. The first M-130 buit was delivered to Pan Am airlines in 1934 and was named the "China Clipper". In 1935 the China Clipper first flew across the pacific scouting out a route.

Starting in 1936 the China Clipper offered air line service along a 8,000 mile route. It took a week to make the trip and in todays dollars the air fare would run about $10,000.

Edit: When he said "AIRPLANE" I thought he was trying to exclude the Zepplins since they were the first air service across the oceans. Flying boats are still air planes in my book.

If you mean airplane- not seaplane, as the Clippers were- then it would be Douglas DC-4 or Boeing 377. If you mean the first airliner that could fly across the Pacific non-stop, that would be the Boeing 747.
