I'm in my finishing year of middle school. My motive isn't to fit in with the crowd or "express myself." I just want it done because I really like it and think it would fit me well. I've done the little clip ons and fake ones for a while to test it out after a few months my opinion stays. I want this! The only dilemma is my mom and dad say no. I'm fourteen and think that if i pay and care for it responsibly it shouldn't be a problem. What do you think?

And for those who have gotten their nose done do you have any advice on how to convince strict parents? my mom is very conservative and doesn't change her mind very easily unless its a good persuasion!

From a professional, I think you should wait until you are old enough to get it without parental consent. I refuse to pierce anyone under 18 even with parents standing in front of me unless it is standard earrings....and I have my reasons.
But if you are dead set on doing this, at least you want it done professionally instead of trying to do it yourself without any knowledge of placement, proceedure, etc.
Here is a link that may help you with your parents... Its called "What Parents Need To Know". Sections 1 & 2 apply to your situation, the others are about tattoos, etc.
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/What_Parents_Need_To_Know_FAQ
That link details everything you and your parents need in making a decision on this. The topics discussed in the link are:
1 General Questions
1.1 Why was this FAQ written?
1.2 My child is looking for body modification information online. What will they find?
1.3 What does it mean if my child is interested in body modification?
1.4 Is there a link between homosexuality and body modification?
1.5 Is there a link between body modification and promiscuity? What about drug use?
1.6 How can I stop my kid from doing this stuff? I don't like it!
1.7 My church says body modification is wrong.
2 Body Piercing
2.1 Is ear piercing at a mall safe?
2.2 Is piercing at a piercing studio safe?
2.3 How can I find a good studio? What are some questions I should ask?
2.4 Is it legal for a minor to be pierced? What about without consent?
2.5 What should be done before getting pierced?
2.6 Will I be able to go in and hold my child's hand during the piercing?
2.7 Can I get a piercing too?
2.8 What is the piercing experience like, start to finish?
2.9 I heard that tongue piercing can lead to brain infection. Is that true?
2.10 How old should a person be to be pierced?
2.11 What if it gets infected?
2.12 What if they decide to take out their piercing?
2.13 Can they take the piercing out for school/work/church?
2.14 My kid just got suspended for their piercing. What are my options?
Take the time to really read over it, with them and discuss it in a grown up manner...no whining, begging, getting mad, etc...that will only hurt the cause. But I should warn you, if they have already said no, they will probably hold strong on it. Don't do it behind their back, that will make them distrust for the rest of your teenage years because they will always be wondering what else you are doing that they should know about it.

Hello,
I got my nose pierced at 17 years old I--had to get LEGAL CONSENT from one of my parents. Honestly, very few states allow minors to get piercings or tattoos without permission so you may have to wait anyway.
I am now 23 and still love my little diamond nose stud.
When you are closer to legal adulthood (around 17) try asking your parents once again, I was able to get mine as a birthday present. Haha I finally convinced my Mom that I should have if my brother could have a hunting gun! You could use a similar arguement -or- you could do the research about piercings and aftercare and show your parents how much you really want and can handle a nostril piercing.
Please, please don't try piercing yourself the risk of nasty infections (some blood born and very serious i.e damaging to the internal organs) could happen in a worst case senario; and either way you'll probably get swelling or these little bumps where the piercing is called Keloids--they aren't fun.
I hope this helped :)

I say totally go for it. Being different it awesome because you don't blend in with everybody and everybody admires your guts. If it's what will truly make you happy go for it. Explain to your parents how doing this will improve your self confidence because when you're happy your confidence improves which leads to you doing better in stuff. I also think that yes, you should pay befcause I doubt your parents will. And if you really wanted it that badly you would pay for it. Also tell them that you can take the nose pierce out whenever you want ( I beleive) and that it won't harm you in anyway whatsover because I know you'll take good care of it so it doesn't get infected.
=)
BE DiFFERENT. =]

I think you should. If this is the craziest thing you do with your teen years your parents are very lucky. My sis pierced her nose like 3 or 4 times when she was your age. She kept taking it out and it kept healing back up. My parents threatened to rip it out off of her face but they didn't do it.She finally took it out for good though. She decided it wasn't for fer.

If you are not a member of the Ubangi tribe then don't do it. Next the kids in this country are going to want a bone thru their noses.
