Thousands of dogs and cats are destroyed in local shelters every year! don't take it to the humane society.contact planned pethood.i adopted my cat from there.THEY ARE NO KILL. they have fosters for the animals..... they don't lock them up in cages.they are more likely to find a home for your cat if you are willing to foster it (until they can find it a home). where did you get the cat? has the cat had any vet care? 4 1/2 weeks old is young for it to be away from its mother. Planned pethood is a good place. good luck.

first of all, you should not be taking a 4 and a half week old kitten away from its mother. you should keep the two together for a while, even if it is not at your home, perhaps a friends or family members house b.c it is too young to wean the kitten after it is about 6 weeks old, you can hang up signs and flyers around the neighborhood, make sure you put a picture and put KITTEN in big letters this will get more attention

Where are you??? Last summer I got a kitten that was young and I made the commitment to bottle feed her and it's a big job. She turned out to be a beautiful, healthy and spoiled kitty. She was about 4 weeks old and it indeed is way too young to be away from her mother. You'd be blessed to find someone to make that commitment if you can't. Don't risk the animal shelters. She'd never have a chance. Good Luck. And where are you? Maybe I can help.

I would find out if your local humane shelter would have a foster home for the kitten it is just old enough to wean and a lot of people don;t' have the time or patience to do this as well as teh training it need that the mom would normally give the kitten.

RSPCA or Cat Protection Society (CPS) I would reccomend getting off your bum and going to a shelter, as they are all already wormed vaccinated and desexed. As a bonus, if something happens or the pet doesn't work out, they offer a "gaurentee". Not to mention that the cats at a shelter really need those homes. Also you can spend as much time as you like with the kitten and make sure it is the right one for you. Whatever you do though, DO NOT but one off the internet or out of a newspaper. They are mostly backyard breeders.

PPl have said to wean it but a cat shouldn't be weaned until at minimum of 6 weeks 12 is best for kitten.

Four and a half weeks old is extremely young for a kitten to be taken from its mother. I would contact your local no-kill shelter or even area vets to see if they can take him in.

put posters up at the vet clinics, and the pet stores and call the local rescue societies. Also, talk to your friends and family, someone usually knows someone who knows someone who wants a kitten. Good Luck and I hope you find a good home for your furry friend.
