I personally do not like antidepressant drugs. Have you tried exercise? A half-hour walk a day helps clear the mind and relax the body. Yoga is also good for feeling a little better.
Try eating more fruits and veggies and protein and less carbohydrates and sodas (I don't know what eating habits you have, so you may already be doing this).
Make time for yourself. Have chats with friends. Pray. Talk with your family.
I would try as many things as possible before reaching for the drugs, but that is just my opinion.
Hope this helps.

It is o.k. to take anti-depressants, taking it first thing in the morning with food, and make sure you drink lots of water with it, it can take 4-6 weeks before the side effects (ex:tiredness, dry mouth etc) to subside and you'll start feeling better, being patient with yourself and taking walks really helped me. Get the rest you need, take the meds regularly at the same time each day, if you have any questions, speak to your pharmacist, they'll be happy to help you =)

Yes it is okay to take antidepressants, your doctor was right when she said that many ppl in the world are taking them. No one is going to look at you differently because you are on meds, no one even has to know that you are on meds unless you so choose to tell them. Meds are safe as long as you take them as they are prescribe. And if they make you drowsy taking them during the day but yet keep you awake at night try talking to your dr again and maybe you can get a sleep aid to help you sleep.
I was on antidepressants myself, and honestly they werent for me but thats me. Everyone is different in the way that they respond to meds... for me they just made me feel worse so I had to stop. But as long as you tell your dr what you are feeling and keep them informed you will be just fine.
Good luck with the meds and I hope that things get better for you.

I used to be skeptical myself about taking depression meds. I was taking it every other day at the beginning cause I was afraid of secondary effects or addiction. But usually very low doses like the one you got doens't harm you, but truly make you feel better. I now take it regularly, but if I forget a dose, I feel normal. We're living in a very stressful world and we need to do whatever it takes to pull ourselves up and keep on going, even if it means taking meds.

If it is something you need and prescribed by your doctor it is okay to take it. If it is not working, talk to your doctor. She may want to try a different type of medication. Everyone is different and if this pill isn't right for you, you can try different doses and different types of medications in the same category. Antidepressants work for some people but not others.

Don't take anti depressants. Try to correct the factors in your life which are causing your stress/depression, otherwise taking anti depressants is just going to remind you of your troubles. Trust me, i've been there, done that. Besides, anti depressants will make you feel very drousy all the time, making it harder for you to get on with your life. Just be tough and make things work for yourself. Don't rely on drugs and other people to make your problems go away.

Yes it is ok, but relying too much on drugs could be very dangerous, take only medicine as prescribed by your trusted doctors if he says you should take this drug for a week, then do so, also try to Exercise, watch a comedy movie with your friends, proper diet, self discipline, proper rest, do not think too much of the things that make you depressed, PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON DRUGS TOO MUCH... smile we have a nice world and a loving God... ^_^

It is MUCH better to take an antidepressant than to go through life feeling depressed.
At least give it a chance. Best of luck.
