I went to school and graduated with an English degree thinking I wanted to teach. I've come to realize that I need to return to school for my teaching license, but after sub-ing I realized I do not enjoy teaching children. I'm thinking about ESL but have to wait on going back to school for that since where I live they do not offer that option. Can anyone tell me what jobs one can pursue with an English degree?

Teaching sounds the best option but nevertheless what do YOU want to do. I know so many people who have studied something and pursued a career in something else and did make it. This really good friend of mine studied Biochemistry and after that pursued working in a hotel starting off as a luggage porter. After 3 year working his way up to concierge and receptionist, he is now a Reception Manager. But I gotta give it, you have to have your heart and mind set on it to get it.

Here's what you have accomplished by getting a degree in English.
1. You proved that you can start something and finish it. You completed the degree requirements. You completed all the required courses.
2. You proved you can work your way through rough spots. No one roller skates thru 4 years of college. You had some courses you hated , and you had some profs which were flaming idiots. Instead of running away, you tackled the problem and solved it.
3. You proved you can turn in quality work, consistently and on time.
True, you might not be qualified for a career as an accountant without taking afew more courses, , but there's a lot,a LOT which you ARE qualified for. See what's out there, see what appeals to go, and go get 'em.
Good luck.
