just depends on what kind of doggy you want!! I have a little Shih-tzu and she is weights 3lbs and she cost ed $300
for her and We have had her for about 2 months and the vet bill has been so fair around$800.00 she is a puppy so all her shots and check ups!
go to www.akc.com and look up different breeds also check around to your vets. see how much it cost just for the office visited and vet check up, shots fecal, and blood work!

Any Breed of Dog needs a large yard to run and exercises in and although you may need to work but you will also have to spend time too with them ..most people don't realize that with any animal especially dogs they need your companionship as much as you need theirs ..Then there are the trips to the vet for their shots every few months or year depending on the shot, then there is the grooming of the dog unless you have the money to spend on a groomer to do it for you ..and the food ..Their walks everyday or at least once or twice a week..No breed of dog is good living in an apartment because they need a big yard to run in and if they have to entertain themselves...Cats do better in a case like that ..dogs with shorter hair are easier to take care of rather than the long hair breeds and I have had both and showed both in dog shows..the cost of a dog is higher if you get it at a breeder but if you just want any dog the local pounds have all breeds and are cheaper. then you could go through your local pet shop and just adopt or ask your local vet to help they always have a pet that's been just dropped off..Or you could research the breed type your looking for over the Internet and collect all your information there before making any big decisions..Good luck

they don't coast anything but depending on what you are looking for they do cost and the room they need also depends on what you plan on getting.
You need to study on the different breeds ask the vet you plan on using how much it will cost for shots, worming, fixing etc. And then always plan for the unexpected emergencies.
hope this will help but with the little you give this is the best I can do.
