tape worms, if they look something like ma gets. If you also have cats then they are more likely tape worms. I know I have 14 cats and 3 dogs, been there done that. It's not that hard to treat, but it is hard not to get them again. they sometimes comes from fleas, and some times they can get them from the food they eat. Cats are the worst. Call your vet or go to the pet store and get some DE wormier

If they look like about 1/4" to 1/2" and sort of flat, they are tape worms. In reality, the ONLY white worms I've seen on my dogs butts are tape worms.
Just go buy the tapeworm medicine at the pet shop, or Tractor Supply and give the dog the right amount according to the dogs weight. I think the maximum dose is 5 tablets. They taste horrible so you'll have to make SURE you dog ingests them.
Tapeworm tabs at the COOP and at Tractor Supply are much less expensive and work just fine.
I never take my dogs to the vet for tapeworm. I just treat them. They usually get it by ingesting a flea that was biting them.
You should be treating them for fleas and ticks every month with good medicine, not one that Walmart sells. Use something like Frontline Plus, or Advantage and if you control the fleas, you're less likely to have to treat for tapewom.

Um, they are worms. Intestinal parasites. Tape worms probably. Your dog needs to be taken to the vet, along with a stool sample to determine exactly. They will give the dog a shot or pill that will paralyze the worms and they will poop them out. Just a warning but people can get them too from their pet.

Go to a vet and ask to buy a wormer pill. (around 10 dollars) They will just need to know your dogs weight. You have seen worms so a stool sample shouldn't be necessary. If you buy a wormer from the store it won't kill all types only some types of worms. (you may think oh its cheaper but you will need to buy more and do it more frequently so you will not save money anyway) Get it fast because worms can kill your dog.

They can get dewormed its nothing serious like heart worm another person answered. Need to go to the vet and get your dog checked on. Watch out though you might end up with worms too if you pet your dog and eat with out washing your hands. That would be sick.

They could be a type of tape worm, you can take him to the vet for meds or you can buy the over the counter kind at the store in the pet section. I would try the otc first then call the vet.

I'm in agreement with a lot of the other folks too.. If it looks like grains of rice, its more than likely tape worms. One of my dogs had them recently. The vet took the stool sample while we was there. I didn't have to follow him around to get it.
Tapeworms are pretty easy to get rid of.. your vet will give your dog a pill and it usually only takes one dose.
Oh and don't worry.. unless you swallow an infected flea, you aren't going to get them from you dog.

Yeah it's tapeworm most likely...I just went through that with my foster dog, along with roundworm and hookworm. You can use over the counter wormer, However I really reccomend taking the dog to the vet with a "sample", because it could be more than one worm.
