demo of how a pulley works?

i need to made a demo of how a pulley works..i have to make it and i don't know how..can someone help me? thank u

As for making a pulley itself, how about using some of these materials:
- the wheels of an old toy
- tinker toys
- stop at Walmart and buy some sewing machine bobbins

Try a dang spool of thread....you will have "rope" and a "pulley" to start. I'll leave the axle up for your own imagination...straw, tooth pick....sheesh
