5' 7" and weighing 135lbs is not overweight! However, if you insist on losing more weight, the best way to do it is to cut back on your calories and exercise more. Do not eat less than 1100 calories per day though.

3000 people have now asked the same question as you on answers! Many more have asked a very similar one, there are no clever answers, nor quick fixes and pills don't help with sustained loss. You stand a much better chance than most of succeeding as yo exercise regularly. A modest reduction in calories is the only answer.

The body is very clever and tries to maintain weight, thus it tries to balance your appetite against you calorie expenditure. I have been burning off 5,000- to 7,500 calories a week in the gym for nearly ten years, but also after initial weight loss, I don't loose any more. The problem is I just like my grub.

One trick is to carry a note book or PDA if you are posh, and try noting everything that passes your lips each day for a week, then add up the calories. ( You will need to weigh your food portions for this to be accurate.) Most people surprise themselves and find they are almost blanking out some of their intake. Once you have done this, the increased awareness often allows you to control your intake more carefully.

Cut down on sugar intake & only eat good carbs if you are going to have carbs at all. Eat your salads & stick with lean meats only if you eat meat. Dont it a lot of starchy foods so try to cut out all types of potatoes & if you are going to have something sweet...save it for the weekend. You have to exercise which I see that you would since you are a cheerleader. Don't eat out & if you do make sure nothing is fried. You want to lose weight your going to make sure that you eat healthy. Do you drink sodas? Try cutting out your sodas too & you will be surprised how much that helps. It can be a lot of work but if you REALLY what to do it you can! Start a little at a time if you don't have a deadline but prepare your mind that this is what you want! Aim for 5 pounds first & then go for the other 5 when you have reached that first goal.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

i once spoke to a professional bodybuilder, who told me something very important. He told me losing weight is "80% diet and only 20% exercise." That is, what you eat is a LOT more important than your exercise.

Don't get me wrong, exercise is VERY important. But as far as weight loss goes, diet is much more important. Look at some football players: plenty of exercise, but still a lot of them have huge guts. If you can handle it, try going Vegan for a while: I mean just plant food: fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, etc. If you can't handle that, try going vegetarian. Point is, don't devolve into just eating junk carbs. As long as you're just eating plant-based food, you will lose weight.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

Well, If your a cheerleader then your obviously getting lots of exercise but maybe you should try running, biking and jogging. Also, try eating fruits and veggies and cut down on everything else. good luck!

That is very possible. Thank you, first of all, for not saying something like, "I wanna lose 20 lbs in a week." Because THAT is impossible. Three months is definitely doable. Here is a list of great ides:
Swimming
Running
Walking
Biking
Situps
Crunches
Pushups
Jump-roping

GOOD LUCK!!!
