The bank probably won't hold a post dated check for you. There was a recent law change that basically allows companies to send electronic copies of the checks you write to your bank so the funds are withdrawn the next day. I think its called "check 21."

No, the bank just takes it if you've signed it and it's not stale dated (over six months old). Post-dating a check has no effect on anything, so if the person or company you give it to cashes it and the money isn't in your account, it will bounce.
Some places it's illegal to post-date a check.

If they see it while you are at the window, the might refuse it. If it comes with other checks and not seen at the time of presentation, they will ignore the date and put it through. They do not hold checks unless you are a depositor of theirs, and it would result in an overdraft condition. In this situation they may call you as a courtesy, but they don't have to.

The bank won't hold it for you. Technically you have to cash it on the 15th or after that day. And yes it is illegal.

It is illegal to post date a check. Checks are no longer like they use to be, many stores will convert your check in electronic funds and give your check back to you, also the funds are withdrawn out instantly. Welcome to the world of instant money!

The bank will not cash it. Because it is truly worthless.
