I saw an online ad and a guy is selling his 2004 Nissan Altima for $4900. The car has only 45,000 miles on it. He said he needs to get rid of it because he wants another car. That sounds like I terrific deal for a car with such low miles but I don't know anything at all about cars. So what do you think?

I see 2 possibilities, neither of which bode well for you:
1) He's not disclosing everything -- it's got damage, it requires repairs, it's a salvage title, etc.
2) If it's truly on the up and up, chances are it's already gone by now. If the ad was on Craigslist, I can guarantee it's gone. That site is full of people browsing for bargains 24x7.

Not safe to buy on line dont touch it you have no idea who this person is,,, Go to a reliable new car dealer.. they hope some day you will come back and buy a new car,,,I have had good luck with rental returns from Budget and Hertz Always remember this Buyer Beware..And thats the bottom line cause grand pa says So.

A buddy of mine just bought an 06 Nissan Sentra with less than 20,000 miles for $6,400 but that was from his grandma. I would look into this car more though. Check and make sure that it doesn't have a rebuilt title.

I think you better get a full inspection done by a mechanic....
I don't know what those are going for, but it sounds to me like too good of a deal. It's possible that he does just need to get rid of it, he wants another car now, but most people would want to get as much as they could out of their vehicle, especially if they are buying a new one.

If it is a 2004, chances are good that the car isn't completely paid for. Either that, or there is something mechanically wrong with the car.

Something is wrong here, has the car been wrecked, is it stolen? If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, I have found deals before but never one that good.
