Considering that the Church is the mystical body of Christ, with Jesus at the head, and that Jesus came from the sinless womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, I would have to call Mary the Mother of the Church, and therefore, the very first member.

The Church is also one manifestation of the presence of the Kingdom of God on the earth, which is a function of God's divine life indwelling a human soul (what we call sanctifying grace).

Mary was the first human since Adam sinned, to be so highly favored by God ... "full of grace" ... so she certainly qualifies in that respect, as well.

Yep! No doubt about it. The Blessed Virgin Mary.

This is also most likely why she was there, present with the apostles on Pentecost, the day the new covenant church was officially "born".

The earliest that the Body of Christ could have begun is the resurrection of Christ. In fact, careful study of the Bible reveals that the body of Christ did not begin until the Lord saved Saul of Tarsus, who became its first member (1 Tim 1:15-16).

The Body of Christ is not a group of people! The sacred host (wafer) received at Holy Communion is, in effect, a physical part of God! During the Consecration at Mass, the Priest blesses the wafers and, as part of our Creed, we believe that when he says "This is the Body of Christ", that he is indeed turning the wafer into a blessed particle. The bread and the wine are symbolic of The Last Supper when the Lord ate and drank with his disciples. So, when we take Communion, we are actually receiving God into our lives and reaffirming our beliefs.

body of christ in reference to the eucharist would mean that the apostles were the first. they were also the first people to be called to follow jesus with st peter of extra significance. you could possibly say peter,i think he was probably the first to receive the eucharist and as the head of the church instituted by christ i would say he was the first member in the spiritual sense of the term "body of christ". peace be with you. ya know what i am gonna say the blessed mother instead, she was the first to believe well, not beleive she was the first to know her son was the christ.

People could become true christians once Jesus was resurrected, so probably Mary Magdalene, who first encountered and believed I think (but check those resurrection accounts).
