do you really have to do that.......... they say the crown of the woman is her hair so i guess if you do shave it off you won't be a princess for the day or for a while for that matter........

relax I give you a mind hug my mind to yours
and its mind over matter-if you dont mind it doesnt matter
praying for you about this decision about not to get your head shaved
this is the custom behind it=this is done by the Lubavitcher women at marriage, there is also some other chassidic (ultra orthodox smaller groups that do this too)
it was begun in the shetyls-Jewish communities in Europe pre wwII-it was done so when a gentile man came after them for 'sport' they would take off their wig which would repel them. After comming in immigration to America the largest portion of this sect and others moved to Israel-they have continued this along with wearing wigs and them men black garbadines (outfits)
Isaiah 9:6 as they seek the Messiah and once thought their head rabbi was the Messiah, but the Jewish Scriptures says "Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be almighty God, and the prince of peace." pointing to only Yeshua/Jesus our Jewish messiah.
so when you see a wig in brooklyn NY or elsewhere on a Jewish lady dont be surprised, thanks David and good question contact me if I can be of any help to you

People are making many assumptions here. Talk to your intended, your rabbi, and perhaps your parents, and see if it's actually required. Just because something may have been done in the past doesn't mean it still must be. If it is - then you have a choice still.
You may want to ask a rabbi online - inwhich case - see the article below, and the link in which you can chat live with a rabbi. You will need to register for the later but can opt to remain anonymous once you have done so.

Then don't get married until you sort out your intentions. If this is something that is required by your religion and you don't want to do it, maybe you aren't ready to make the sacrifice, which is what this sounds like. I feel your pain but I'm glad that I don't have to make such a difficult decision.

Use a cap below your wig to maintain your hair below wraps and cut back it shorter, do exactly not shave it. could your husband tell in case you probably did not shave it? In long island, not often any of the Orthodox women shave their heads. people who persist with that theory of overlaying their head in any respect, purely throw the wig on over their hair.

So, what's the question? Either don't do it, or abide by the rules of your religion. You can always opt out and join a less orthodox group. But you can't have it both ways.
