This is my furniture (well, some of it, I also have another end table and loveseat) tan couches with black coffee/end tables.... http://img106.imageshack.us/my.php?image=20070515new0068jo5.jpg
I also have trim to paint.. I was thinking a really dark burgandy red/maroon.. What do you think? Give me other color ideas you think would work well and/or easy faux finish ideas.

I have black end and coffee tables, would it look bad to have some lighter brown in the throw pillows and accent stuff?

Maroon would make it nice and warm, a good place to relax! If you want it to be more modern, I would suggest blue.

My bedroom furniture is similarly colored to what you have there and we did a really dark burgandy on the walls. We accented with sort of a pale yellowish green. I'm so happy with it.
We did a faux finish on our tray ceiling that was super easy (except that it was a ceiling and you have to look up the whole time). First we painted the ceiling a cream color. Once it dried we brushed on a light toffee color and wiped it off with old socks (I'm sure you could just us a rag). The dark stays in the deeper areas and the higher texture stays light. It compliments the walls nicely. To extend your working time, add some glaze to your paint.
I also threw in a tiny, tiny bit of leopard print. I'm almost reluctant to say that because it starts to sound really Vegas like or something, but it isn't. Just a throw pillow in the loveseat and another on the bed. I like the way the colors work together.

I like Origamigirl's suggestion. You have a lot of earthtone going on. It needs some colors. Find some colorful throw pillows that you like, then pick a vibrant color from the pillow and go with that.

Burgundy would work. Since your furniture is neutral you could basically use any color. You could also paint the walls blue and then use accents in red/burgundy.
