I am going in 3 weeks and can't wait. But, I have no idea what to bring back!

depends on where you are headed. different cities are popular for different things. Some pretty common items are:

Pearls
Silk
Jade
Tea sets
hand carved wood etc
Chinese caligraphy

Then there is all the pirated junk. It is buyer beware on that stuff. It is cheap, so no big loss if it turns out to be crap. Which is likely will be. Remember to haggle. These days I am astounded at the prices the hawks start with. When I first came here the prices started at about double what they expected you to really pay. last time I took some friends shopping, I got the sellers to come down an average of 90% !!! So if they start at 100 RMB, counter with 10 RMB. Go from there.

Don't have to go to China to buy their stuff. It's shipped over here and is in every store, haven't you ever looked at the labels. From computers to the clothes you wear, to the toys kids play with. "Made in China".
