1/2 of mississippi is dry
Alabama has 26 dry counties
Of Texas' 254 counties, 44 are completely dry and 169 are partially dry or "moist".
Ocean City, New Jersey, a major beach-side resort city, is dry, and uses this fact to promote itself to tourists as family-friendly
In December 2005, Bridgewater, Connecticut, became the last remaining "dry town" in that state.
The village of South Holland, Illinois has been a dry municipality since it was founded by Dutch Reformed immigrants in 1894
Some cities, like Jacksonville, Arkansas, are dry

There are many places on earth ("the world") that do not have beer or any alcoholic beverages.
Muslim countries under Islamic Law do not allow alcoholic beverages, including beer. For example, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Brunei. There are many others. Beer is usually at Western military bases in Saudia Arabia but forbidden elsewhere. Some (predominately) Muslim countries are not under Islamic Law and allow alcoholic beverages. For example Turkey, Pakistan(?), and Malaysia.
Mormans do not drink alcohol or stimulants like tea or coffee. A strict Morman family will not have alcoholic beverages in their home. There are probably several Morman towns where alcohol is not sold in stores or served in public places like bars or restaurants. I'm not aware of any, however.
Several counties in Texas and other united states have elected to be "dry." That is, they do not allow alcohol in public places like a restaurant. They do allow it in private clubs and in people's homes.
There are likely other religions that do not allow use of alcohol. I don't have a list of them.
BTW, people live in Antarctica. There are 16 Antarctic stations there, all manned year-round. South Pole Station is the most famous. It's been there since 1957. I can't say for certain but will place a bet that they have beer in all of the stations. The research scientists there are just like you and me. Some drink, some don't. You can read more at:

and South Pole Station is at:

Food (and drink) for thought: Wine is served in some churches. Jesus Christ made wine, drank wine (at least at The Last Supper), and made no mention against its use, just its abuse. It's in The Bible. I don't see much difference between drinking wine or beer in church or out of church. The "House of God" is wherever "two or more are gathered in my Name," which includes churches, synagogues, temples, your living room, and many other places.
