As I begin typing, nobody's mentioned the Gaelic that "Thistle and Shamrock" on NPR play songs in, possibly plus Breton and the other Celtic languages. I'm not sure you can live in the U.S. any more without hearing Spanish sung, and sometimes I do it on purpose. (I can't listen fast enough to make sense, usually, altho I can manage written Spanish fairly well.) There's French from Ian and Sylvia and from Marianne Faithful. The Chinese program on KCPW here evokes nostalgia for various outdated styles of American music. And since this isn't a test but a request for contributions, I guess I'll stop now.

The Bulgarian Women's Choir is BEASTLY. Their music is awesome. I don't speak a word of Bulgarian, and I've never been to the Balkans, but I love their CD.
I know some German, and my favorite rock musician is Herbert Groenemeyer. A few days ago, I asked Yahoo Answers if I was the only person on earth who listens to him, and the respondents concluded that I am. :(
I know a little Polish, and I listen to Janusz Radek, Ewa Demarczyk, Marek Grechuta, and Stanislaw Soyka. I don't know enough Polish to understand more than a word or two here and there.
I studied Chinese and lived in Taiwan for a semester, and I listen to Mandopop to remind me of my friends there :) I understand practically none of it.

Absolutely! Some of my favourite music is from Africa sung in various native tongues. Japanese music is always fun to listen to and also, how could I leave it out, any Latin music is fantastic. The best way to get into music from other countries is to find an online radio station or watch a lot of foreign movies - or better still, visit new countries. Search 'Chinese radio station' or something else you fancy into Google and see what comes up!

I use to listen to a lot of Japanese music without understanding it at all, because of my grandpa and mom, but they never taught me how to really speak it or understand it, so I was completely lost. I ended up majoring in Japanese for a little while and picked it up fast. So now I can say I "use" to listen to Japanese music and not understand it. :D
Now I listen to Japanese rap and reggae, some pop too.
Oh I guess I can say Korean and Chinese music. I listen to that language quite a bit too.

yea, i like some josh groban stuff and half of his songs are in italian and i think he has a couple spanish also. Anyway usually i look up the english translation to get the general meaning of the song and then enjoy listening to the unfamilar words. also i like a few japanese (i guess thats what nationality) songs from the game DDR

I love listening to Hindi music. My husband thinks it'll help me learn Hindi (he's Indian), but mostly I just like to listen. Who cares if you don't know the words!

Well, I love Irish music. Lots of it is in Gaelic and
I don't understand it. I usually end up looking up
the lyrics with translations.
