I would suggest crate training him and having him sleep in the crate, but keeping his crate in your bedroom so that he can hear you breathing and know that you are there. When he's potty trained, you can leave the door open, and he'll probably be pretty happy to stay in there because it will become a comfortable and familiar place for him.

when my dog was a puppy, i kept her in a big laundry basket by the side of our bed at night, even though she ended up in the bed within half and hour, lol. as for accidents, you should get up with the puppy and take them to the potty, probably two/three times a night. this only lasts for about 3 months. then, they start sleeping through the night. usually, dogs don't like messing in the place where they sleep. now, my dog is 1 and a half and she just sleeps in my bed with me. yeah, there are people who are going to say never let the dog sleep with you, but, how can you resist their cute faces and little paws on the side of the bed?

When we got our puppy, we crated him at night in a different room, then in our room. Then he started sleeping in our bed, since I couldn't stand his crying. He learned not to do his business in our bed, just as he won't do his business in his crate. You should probably take him out more frequently when he is young and especially right before going to bed. It has never happened to us and my dog is now 6. Dogs are smart--they learn.

if you are gonna go for a crate dont allow it on the furniture. if he comes on the bed or couch take him off. and dont hesitate to yell or be a little rough. dont go too far but they are animals and if you treat the dog like an animal he'll be more obedient. but if u want him to bark at other dogs and people let him do what he wants. if you put him in a crate be more strict or dont put him in the crate and he'll be a jolly fellow.
if you want a dog treat him like a dog (put him in a crate) if you want a friend let him stay w/ you.

He should sleep in the crate at night. He'll cry a lot at first, but trust me it'll help with so much - no night time accidents (house breaking, teething..) and he has to start to think of his crate as his own little room or space.

You can put the crate or cage anywhere, take one of your old socks and put it in the cage or crate with the puppy. Make sure the little one has something soft to sleep on in the cage or crate! Make sure that sock has your scent on it!

a dog won't deficate where they sleep they are naturally clean animals, you can get him a little bed so he sleep with you in your bedroom, so in the kitchen, tile makes easy clean up, as long as it's warm and clean your vet is right, when they sleep with family it makes them feel good and safe and encourges bonding, plus hes a baby and can get scared and wimper. Your presence will comfort him.

Your bedroom! When it becomes older, it will probably know that you get mad when it has his/her accidents in inapropriate places so it will probably not be a problem. Right now, you must let it get used to it and get the experience and understanding of when you will get mad at it and what you would get mad at.
