I play it, or played it. I think it's a fun thing, but just like any game some folks are prone to get addicted. Just like those darn MMORPGs that have me hooked.
If someone with too much time on their hands and not enough sense of reality got into it, I'd be afraid it'd wind up being a stepping stone into the occult. And from a religious person's point of view, the occult isn't a good place to be.
So it's not evil or anything, but get someone who's too open minded and capable of being influence and you wind up with that girl on YouTube who's eating habits were taught to her by Ninja Turtles cartoons.

I don't know many people who play it. I have known people who played it and it didn't cause them to be evil or something. One thing that is bad about the Dungeons and Dragons stuff is that it takes up a lot of your time. It is kind of like you loose touch of reality but I guess you can say that about a lot of things like the internet, play station, x-box, DVD's and so on.

Just like Harry Potter is nothing more than a series of entertaining books (and movies) D&D is nothing more than an entertaining game.. and I have played it in my younger years. (My brother was a dungeon master.)
It's all in ones own perception of it, it's all in what you make it out to be.

I'm running a PBeM game right now. My players are great at fighting, but suck at planning. I have to have all these NPCs come in and get them moving. I just want to know where they're going next.

I'm not sure if I qualify as 'religious' in the way that you mean it, but I would like to tell my family's story of DnD.
My father, when he was younger was VERY into DnD. My mother is very Christian and she feared all of the magic in the game was a bad influence and that it encouraged evil to enter his life. She forced him to give up playing. (Not to mention that it sucked up all of his time.)
So she was not a fan... I personally think it's a great game, LOL. But I am not Christian!

I feel about D&D just as any other highly addictive game... Don't get addicted. That goes for Everquest, World of Warcraft, Starwars Online, and any other MMORPG or multi player game.

It's high fantasy. It's just another way to escape your troubles. Equivalent as playing poker with your friends.

Dumb game I used to play. Another medieval hack and slay game. You can play Runequest on the internet - same type of deal.
