I don't get it, how can a question (in itself) be offensive?
How can an honest answer not be appreciated?

Most of us are not experts on R/S, so it seems our honest answers and frank questions are the only real value of this site.

We are all rather guilty of community guidelines, but that never seems to be the real reason we are reported?

Please give me an example of how not to offend a person who is prone to reporting others.

(If you a person who reports people, please tell us how to ask or answer a question that will not offend you.)

I am never offended unless it's something disgustingly sexual or threatening to someone, but here are afew tips. Make sure when asking a question that the thin blank part contains your question or the automated sensor will think you are not asking a question. Also, don't use the word "you" or it will think you are chatting. But the main reason most people are given violations is because they have made an enemy, a troll that has a beef against them and reports them just to be mean. And since the boat (Yahoo answers) is on autopilot, you will be given violations everytime you are reported by 2 different screen names for an answer or question. But those 2 different screen names are most likely the same person with 2 accounts just so they can cheat and get the people they hate deleted and suspended. Maybe if you pick a different category of questions to answer, you can loose your troll.

I will not report anyone. I strongly suggest that all do the same. The motivations to report are many but typically it stems from a lack of understanding, if they can resist the temptation to report someone then that negative compulsion can start to be removed.

The silly thing is that "reporting" is too late, the damage is already done as the truly ignorant questions and answers are not caught in time. Most will read the offending Q or A before it can be removed. So what is the point, I say let their words be recorded for all time and see just how their words will effect their cause in the near or distant future.

The ones who report are usually the ones who ask very poor or even depraved questions and post ignorant insulting answers to our questions.

I will notice this and then go and answer all their questions with as much love as possible. Unfortunately most of them then delete their accounts. Doing this is probably the best work I, or anyone of us can do from the R&S section.

Honestly I don't know why so many are being reported - in all beliefs and non-beliefs. Perhaps someone is just out to see what havoc they can wreak and if so then I think that is particularly sad.

For the most part, I do not report; I certainly do not agree with all questions, postulates or answers but everyone has the right to give their thoughts and opinions. In over a year, I have only reported one person and that was because they were asking very sick questions about the benefits of child pornography.

The report button shall be removed from YA.
If a question is offensive the correct direction is not answering the question. If you don't receive answers your question is out. Simple as that.
If an answer is offensive to you don't use the thumbs up or down. No evaluation is worst than a thumbs down.

note: One of the answers to this question say that he use the report button when he receive a blasphemous answer. If I'm a believer of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and this is my god, can I report the people who laugh of my master? I don't think so.

It is strange. Most of them were removed after only being up for a few moments. It seems to fast for a report and removal. If it was a filter catching them they would not be posted to start with. It also seems to be only atheists getting deleted.
It might be somebody on a milicious reporting spree. I have tried answering at least 6 questions today only to get the notice that they had been removed by customer service.
It is very weird.

I don't have a problem with someone who gives poor advice or even asks stupid questions. I do have a problem with hate speech..and I do have a problem when young kids come on here for GLBT advice and they are given really hurtful responses...
I think that there are a lot of unhappy people on this site..whether they are religious or whatever..And I think it somehow makes them feel superior to laugh at or ridicule others' answers. They don't realize how assinine they look/sound--but then I don't think they really care. I will not tolerate hate speech..but then, again, I rarely report people unless I find them very offensive or damaging. As to the other people who just report for the sake of reporting..Who knows..what goes on in their warped little minds?

I rarely use the report abuse function. I only use it if someone is using a pornographic photo or spewing hatred and advocating violence against a religion or race, or something extreme like that.

But, here's my personal opinion as to what I think may be happening. Since I'm not the one reporting, I am only guessing:
Someone has someone they disagree with. Maybe they just don't like that person's religion. So they look for every opportunity to report that person. So as soon as the person does something even remotely reportable, they report it. I imagine that chatting is the number 1 culprit.

I don't know, there's been a rash of people getting violation notices lately, particularly today. It's not fair. Markyyy got a question deleted that was asking people to help cheer up Heron by The Sea because she was depressed. God's Kitty got her question asking for prayers for her friend who has cancer.

I've gotten a bunch of months old questions deleted in the last week, and there's a obvious motive because they are *only* on questions where I gave best answer to a certain other R&S regular.

The only times I have ever reported people is for violent racist questions that are extremely offensive, or for the guy that was posting all the explicit child sexual abuse questions. I think some people consider it a victory or something to report people who p. them off.

I know, everyone keeps on getting deleted. I think yahoo is trying to be strict so that everyone is forced to follow the rules but so many times we get reported for silly reasons. If people are actually reporting for those reasons, they are too uptight. I'm surprised they dont get bored of reporting continuously
