Oh yea; and please don't preach to me about the devil or some weird crap that I don't care about from the bible. I have dabbled in Satanism, Wicca, etc. and believe me... IT IS ALL IN YOUR MIND. I'm not a Christian so I don't care what GOD says, thanks.

I think that they better you as a person because it gives you advice...lol; that's it. Most of them tell you to eliminate negative things affecting your life, etc.

As you mention, tarot can be very useful for self-development, as well as being a bit of fun.

If your mother is profoundly affected by your having these cards, you must decide how important that is to you. However, if you are interested in keeping them, do not allow others to influence away from what you feel is right for you.

That said, as with all tools, tarot should be used responsibly. If, as it seems from what you have written, you are interested in acquiring differing views and philosophies, then tarot can be a fascinating way to explore these, there being so many different decks out there to investigate. A great deal of knowledge and understanding has been invested in many of these decks, as well as great beauty having been created in their artwork.

I hope you will not be using tarot as a rebellion, though, as a way to hit out at anyone, especially your mother. I do not think this is what you are meaning, but it is something which can happen, so please be wary of this.

All the very best,

Tarot Source

Yes, I've used tarot playing cards fairly a little over time and feature performed a few experiences into their histories and symbolism which I uncover very exciting despite the fact that I am now not an out and out diehard occultist. I have on this time determined without doubt not anything which backs up undue reverence for tarot playing cards which were given as a present, if some thing you're intended to pick your possess, which you'll now do freely with none guilt approximately what occurred in your final deck. Really, tarot playing cards are individual like lingerie or toothbrushes. The simplest esoteric instructing I have heard of approximately presents is that the great present to provide or obtain is a mug or cup or glass since that indicates you're beneficial of receiving or giving love. So certainly not brain what your peers say, cross out and purchase a few if you happen to desire, the tarot has no bizarre supernatural vigour over you, however it's fairly an exciting approach if you happen to desire to make use of it, and has motivated plenty of very exciting artwork. I individually decide upon the well ancient unfashionable Rider Waite, however the deck you pick is an issue of individual alternative.

I have just gotten into tarot cards and I can tell you they are hitting my life right on the nail. The stuff that is going on in my life, is coming up in the cards. I think they absolutely work. As to whether they are evil or not, I am just as inquisitive as you, but I'm more leaning on that they're not. They're only pieces of paper! I think, why would something be evil that is helping and guiding you? Bringing clarity to your life. What is evil is putting a spell, hex, jinx on someone's life and completely messing them up. My situatuion was different in that I already had a jinx put on me, and bad luck all the time. So I had no choice but to turn to tarot b/c I had to figure out why my life was such a mess. And let me tell you, psychics don't work! I haven't come across one that was making any sense! I've gotten a billion times better results with tarot than psychics! These cards tell the truth.... I think that it is terrible to put something on someone and that person is so evil and they will get it back worse. But tarot cards are not doing that. It only involves you.

Tarot, like anything, is a tool. In an ideal world, it will help you spiritually and serve for you to deepen your relationship with God. Used incorrectly, it can be used to manipulate people.

What I think is that this frightens your mother because she is religious, not spiritual. It is not to condemn her but help you understand where she is coming from. Talking directly with God/Spirit/the Universe can be quite frightening. Look at Noah or Abraham, they put up with lots of ridicule. Even worse, God asked them to do some pretty uncomfortable things.

The ironic thing is that Pagans consider the standard Rider Waite Tarot deck to be too Christian. After all, it has the Hierophant, which used to be the Pope, the Judgment and the Hanged Man (who could represent Jesus).

Hopefully, the cards will allow you to learn more about yourself, especially your higher self.

Here is what I think, that you are probably old enough to know where your own spirituality lies. However, Moms like to be Moms so the choice is up to you. If you hide this from her, how will that make you feel? If you indeed return the cards, you can always work your divination skills with a regular deck of playing cards, until such a time when you are on your own, and you find the deck that appeals to you.

I think tarot cards can be a good source of guidance, but not necessarily a tool for telling the future. Though they have proved accurate for me. Depending on how old you are... you may have to do what your mom says. But you can use them when you're older.

Obviously, I don't think they're evil. I think that comes down to the intent of the reader.

sorry girl but i am in a similiar situation.

what i think would be best to do is throw away the deck if you dont want to get your ommo angry.

but if you dont care, keep it hidden. the old mantra "what momma dont know wont hurt her" is in effect. basically what im sayin is that its her house, and you gotta follow her rules. or at least make her think you are.

and to the man who posted all the biblical scripture, you do realise that your detestable to the LORD too, dont you??

i was a christian for the first 16 yrs. of my life, and i know alot of things about it.

let me tell you why your detestable to the LORD. you are detestable because you sin. and to god NO sin is bigger or smaller than another. so by lying, you make yourself just as vile as a murderer in God's eyes.

so who are any of you to tell this girl she is going to hell or that she will be led down the wrong path because of these tarot cards??

and how is a book supposed to help someone change thier lives??
its not the book that changes lives, its the content. its the same with the cards.

ohh and not to become dr. phil or anything. but the reason your gonna pray for her, is so that you can act as if you had something to do with her convertion if she did convert, but god says that you should boast of nothing, for it is through him that all things are done. but by praying you become active in her life, and in God's plan. it says to pray in the bible, because god likes it. but he already knows this girl. he doesnt NEED you to pray for her. he will enact his "plan" either way.

sorry for turning this into a religous discussion.

anways like i said either listen to your mom, or dont. but remember its her house and her rules. so try and respect them

and most definitely try and educate her if possible

Tarot cards are an amusing diversion with no signifigance. Your mom is having a stereotypical reaction. I had a buddy who used to have to hide his D&D books for the same reason.

Theres no harm in them. You draw a card, read up on its meaning and think about it. People create the meaning in their lives. Drawing tarot cards are a fun way of reflecting about yourself. Nothing supernatural about it.

Those Who Practice Magic Arts

Webster defines magic as: 1 a: the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces b: magic rites or incantations
2 a: an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source b: something that seems to cast a spell

The bible says, “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-13) No one that does these things will be blameless before God. God cannot look upon these acts. These acts are for the wicked. These acts are practices that the bible says not to do.

He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. (2 Kings 21:6) When people practice magic arts, then they are doing evil in the site of God. When people do evil, they provoke God to anger. When God is angry he pours out his wrath on you. You will not be blessed, but you will be cursed.

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. (Revelation 22:5) This verse is comparing everyone who practices evil with dogs. Bible says magic arts are a false practice. When this verse is saying outside, it is talking about being outside of heaven. People who practice magic arts will not enter into the gates of heaven.

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." (Revelation 21:8) All who practice magic arts will go to the lake of fire (HELL). This is what the bible calls the second death. God will judge all the wicked. The wicked will be judge at the white throne judgment.

If you are one of the people who practice magic arts God will forgive you. Just repent and turn from your wickedness.
