besides donating to them, how can we prevent poverty in africa from worsening?

wow. so far 4/6 of the answers ive received are inconsiderate. its for a project. thanks for the thought. i thought people cared for world poverty.

First of all not all African countries are poor. There are actually really wealthy African that are prospering. Countries like Egypt, south africa, parts of nigeria and ghana. Some of those countries look like european and north american places. So all is not lost for the countinent. If the poverty stricken countries would follow the example of the prospering countries, they could be very successful. They continent itself is probably the richest in the world in terms of gold, diamond, baxite, ivory and other natural resources. In fact Nigeria has the third largest oil production in the world. So the contient actually has everything it needs to be one of the richest in the world but they do not know how to use their resources and they often waist them on unnecessary wars like in darfur. Africa actually should be taken as a charity case, afterall they have everything the need right in front of them.

Well, here's a thought. How about we figure out a way to prevent poverty in America from worsening. Then, once we find a method that works, we can apply it to Africa. I don't mean to sound callous. I do feel badly for the African people, but what about the people here who are equally poor and misfortunate? Charity starts at home.

Build community health centers that Africans can access and receive care. No amount of money is going to be enough if we don't create a system of keeping people healthy.

simply convince all or the majority of selfish shortsighted Americans that they really don't need all the material possesions that we cling to with an iron grip. Then maybe the fich nation will share some of their benz's, beamer's, laptop's, jewelry, exquisit foods and spices, abnormaly large living ares and so forth.

Why don't we worry about the impoverished and starving, homeless people in THIS country. Keep your money and efforts at home before you start trying to solve the rest of the worlds problems.

I don't mean this as a joke, but why are they having so many kids over there if they are just going to live pain-filled lives. They all need to get sterilized or something.

I dont think we can cause their government promotes this and keeps them poor and uneducated because that way they can control them . good luck .
