No, only surgeons so surgeries. ER docs are the first to "treat" the patient and examine the type of injuries. They then send the patient off to the appropriate specialty that is surgeons, etc.

Yes, mostly minor surgeries. And in emergency situations they too perform life-saving surgical procedures like cricothyrotomy, tracheotomy, among the few.

Not really. It's occasionally necessary to do a cricothyrotomy or tube thoracostomy, and lancing boils doesn't really count. For the most part, surgery goes to the surgeons.

There are trauma surgeons, but the ER docs who report for their shift in the ER each day do not go to surgery.
