I'm a freshman at a preparatory school nd i want 2 leave next year. Its a pretty good school but i'm struggling there. The academics are great but i can't seem to do well cuz it's an all boys school and i'm not used 2 it at all. It feels pretty wierd and its a difficult atmosphere to work in.
Also the uniforms are uncomfortable and I cant work well in them either. I found a really great high school (Ridgewood High in NJ) where i want to go but i live in Clifton which is about 10 mi/ 20 min away. I don't like the highschool in clifton at all since it is way 2 overcrowded and sucks in academics so i wanna go 2 one in a different town. And yea i'm willing 2 go dat far 4 a great highschool. Please help me! thnx

Hmm I know you are a teenager getting ready to be an adult so I will say this and I agree up front its a little slanted....
Good God man grow up! I wear a uniform everyday with millions of others...and sometimes I have to wear an additional 65 to 125 lbs on top of that and oh by the way the temp is anywhere from 125 to 160 degrees...
You are complaining about an ALL boys school...I am in Combat Arms ALL men...what is the difference IF you are there for the academics as you say the non female population shouldnt effect you one way or the other....
I think you are trying to have your cake and ice cream too...you have to either think about your future and conform just as any other RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTIVE citizen would....how many other children would give their right arm to be where you are...and I dont really think you are into it for the academics if you were you would use the proper english not some damn slang ebonics type language....
POINT...There are things in life you arent going to like as a Man....you either learn to deal with positively now ...or get your a*ss kicked by life later...Best of luck...I know you wont read this all the way...but its something you may remember later in life if you do...Good Luck!

I'm not sure about New Jersey but I will tell you what's common practice for attending high school; depending on what county you live in, that's the school you will attend. Any changes for reasons such as safety concerns, you would have to get a waiver from the county to attend a school outside of your district. Let me tell you, those waivers are not easy to get. Many students want to transfer but can't; not because their waiver request is not legitimate, but because not everyone can go to the school of their choice. It sounds like you are already enrolled in a great high school if you give it more of a chance. I know from experience that uniforms can be uncomfortable but at least you don't have to think about what to wear and you save a bunch of money on constantly buying new clothes to keep up with high school trends. My advice? Stick with what you got and make the best of your current situation. Who's to say that any new school you go to you'll like better than your current one?

Man, are you really willing to give up a prep.school just b/c you do not like the uniforms and there are no girls? Do you know how many people would love to trade places with you. You have opportunity that most people do not have.... stick it out. It may be challenging but you are not going to get the academics at most HS. that you will where you are at. Not only that it will look great on your college transcript. Good Luck

You want the good things when you are older. The cars the girls, the houses the cash. The prep school sounds impressive and staying there is your ticket to a really good life. If you uniform is uncomfortable go to a tailor. Have him make you a really good uniform, fit to your body and of soft material. It will look the same to anyone who doesn't know about good clothes. If you bail on this school it will haunt you for the rest of your life. Trust me on this one. Hang in there work hard and kick *** academically. It pays really massive dividends.

the answer to that would lie with the school district you want to attend. some have rules governing who can attend, such as only students who live in that district as set out by zoning. others don't have such rules. you would have to check with the school board for the district you want to attend. good luck with that, but I would stay where I was.
