My first question is this: As a Christian, would I be endangering myself if I was in a place that was said to be possessed or paranormal and I knew this ahead of time? Really, are demons able to sniff out if you have a relationship with Jesus and then target you because you are a Christian?

Second of all, a couple of demons were sighted in my house about 20 or 30 years ago. One was very violent, actually trying to strangle someone. This is the only thing of it's kind that has happened on my property as far as I know, and to my knowledge, no one died while living here. Any thoughts on this? thanks!

I already have some convictions and ideas about these things, but I'm just wondering what other Christians might think. thanks!

but there are 1 or 2 places where there have been holes patched up on our walls, like a violent person punched his or her fist through the wall.

You rang?

This is my field. It doesn't matter if you're a Christian or not. Demons are not to be taken lightly.

The important thing is not to fear them. They detest laughter and love. The surest way to get rid of them is with those two weapons. Aside of the Number One Weapon - The Almighty!!!

If the instance was 20 or 30 years ago then they have probably moved on. They do that. Now and then they find a place and dig in their heels. But for the most part, they travel. Looking for people they can turn away from God.

YES they will target Christians above all else. Sadly so many think that because they ARE Christians they are immune. This is NOT the case. Those people need to spend time reading scripture. Particularly the Book of Job.

The devil has a way of turning even the most wonderful of intentions into something deviant. For instance, prayer is good. But if you pray so much you neglect your family, that is bad. People are so silly as to think that the devil only tries to STOP you from praying.

As Christians we are given the Holy Spirit and thereby have the grace to cast out demons. However, that's not something I recommend for the average Joe. It takes preparation. They will use your worst fears against you. Mix lies with truth to frighten you or try to convince you that you are unworthy of God's love.

It depends if youre seeking it instead of the Lord. But if you just happen to be there and not know for instance that a house was haunted, I would think that anybody that had the Holy Spirit would be unwelcom by demons or spirits in a place like that and therefore draw a reaction. But the Bible teaches that we are always targets of Satans temptation.

Its not unheard of to have violent spirits or demons living in houses or people. If you believe theyre there and dont want them there, then you could have church leaders come pray at your house to get rid of them. I just heard that happened even at my old Bible college! Some girls claimed they were being choked in the night. I dont know though if they were actually Christians because they are some unbelievers and pretenders at that school.

For one who is a true believer in Christ the idea of demons targeting you should not be a troubling thought. Demons attack everyday in all different situations. The key is remember the words of the Bible, he who is in me is greater then he who is in the world. If truly are a christian then you are indwelled by the Spirit of God. And he is alot stronger then any Demon.

What is interesting is that you are confusing two different things. A. Demons B. Hautings
Demons are teh agents of Lucifer
Hauntings are teh alleged spirits of the dead returing to haunt a place.

Now hauntings are laughable to christians in that they are actually impossible.
Demons are a different story all together and must be "dealt" w/ by the holy spirit.

PS this is from the standpoint that assumes that demons are able to be spotted and have physical powers such as the ability to strangle someone.
Which Is a load of bull.

I think that God would not want us in a place where demons are - period. It may or may not affect you. When I step into a place and get a funny feeling, I know it is a spiritual battle between the angels that entered with me and the demons that are there. I don't feel comfortable in such places. I wouldn't recommend it. Demons would love to steal you from God, and they will try as hard as they can to do it.
About the sighting of demons. I've never heard of actually seeing them. I just know that they can inhabit the bodies of people who are open to them. I don't think it has anything to do with someone dying.

If there exists a place where one could be endangered for any reason, then God would not be infinite and all powerful, and therefore a myth.
Evil can take many forms and deceive the whole world, as it does, so rethink your thoughts if they give power or reality to any form of evil.
In understanding, you are not in danger. Period.

oh dear...
Demons---Angels---how to deal with them? What to believe?

hard to say

many modern Christians believe demons/angels to be sort of metaphorical, not real. Others believe them to be very real and at hand. How does one deal with the paranormal?---call Ghostbusters? I don't know. But the folk that are often most acquainted with such things are Catholic priests. I am, so, not-Catholic, but the Catholic clergy seems to be the people who can be most reliably approached on these kinds of questions. I would contact a local priest and ask him about this stuff. I am not belittling your problem, nor am I trying to dodge the issue. But----you need to see a priest. they study this stuff. they believe in it. and---if you are a bit unhinged---always a possibility---they can refer you to good help.

I don't know that you'd be endangering yourself. You belong to God.

But objects and houses etc. can be possessed. Father Amorth is the Vatican exorcist. He says that he personally, has never dealt with a house that was possessed, but other priests have.

I would check into having an exorcism done.

If you read the Key of Solomon, you would know that demons can be summoned and controlled by anyone using the name of God, along with following the proper ritual. Perhaps you could cast these demons out yourself.

Or maybe you could grow up and stop believing in fictional creatures.

Christanity has been changed many times, because of the editing of the Bible, which is very unfortunet cuz u dont know what is a true message of God & what is not, thats why ur asking a Question like this because some things dont make sense in Christianity so therefore one gets confused, trust me this is true, & by the way you dnt get to see demons, no such thing as visible demons.

I guess I feel that if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then you can pray for protection every day from evil and temptation. I myself would not worry about a demon....unless you have small children and then I might actually ask a pastor about what he thinks. Although we can pray for them, they generally can't ask for protection like we can.
I'm not sure.
