What is the difference between marine Boot camp and basic training?

Which one do recruits have to go through first?

Just like everyone else said. Marines call it boot camp. Its like 13 weeks long. Im in the Army and we call it basic training. Depending on what job you do in the Army depends on how long you are in basic training for. Every job requires 9 weeks of Training plus however many weeks of training for your individual job. Infantry training is 14 weeks long. A lot drop out, a lot break. Have fun!

All Marines go through BOOT CAMP. All other services call it Basic training. The diff between Air Force Basic Training and Marine Corps BOOT CAMP, is the same as the diff between DAY and NIGHT.

Marine Boot Camp is basic training. It is just that the Marine Corps calls their basic training Boot Camp and all the other services call it basic training.

They are the same thing. Marines call theirs boot camp and Air Force calls their basic training. That is where all the similarities end though.

MARINE BOOT CAMP is the toughest around and it's the only basic training that if you ever decide to join another branch you don't have to go through that basic training
only 2-3 week orientation session and job skill training.

OK, because my husband is a marine, I will tell you what they have to do...
First you go to Boot Camp, or basic, When you finish that, you go to what is called MCT (Marine combat training) and then you go to you MOS school (or job specific) for training in your field.

The level of expectation.

You cannot be a Marine if you don't pass Marine boot camp (the formal equivalent to basic in other branches), and about 2/3 don't make it.
