You will most likely get divorce in 2 years anyway, so why waste time and money?

Because you own too much stuff and you need someone to take half of it in the divorce.

To me, it's a celebration of a relationship. But BE DAMN SURE! I've been married, and divorced. I feel that ultimately we didn't get to know each other enough, I didn't pay attention to the signs (of lying that ultimately ended up to be infidelity on his part), and just wanted so badly to believe that "love would conquer all." To me, that's bs. It's easy to say, "I love you." What comes after that is the hard part. You can't be with someone without respect, trust, and communication. If you don't have the same goals in life, and only care about yourself, it'll never work.... the old adage that "the honeymoon is over" became a 'saying' for a reason! Just cover the bases of respect, trust, and communication, and you'll have a lasting marriage - then you don't even worry about divorce within 2 years and the time and money, b/c you'll want to celebrate your relationship!

I got married because it's easier to be a married couple than a live-together couple. And I wanted to eventually live together with someone because I like the companionship. So, if I'm planning to be living with someone for an indefinite amount of time anyway, it's just easier to be married (in the legal, practical and social sense). I don't have a problem with marriage, and I don't have a problem with divorce. The only thing I have a problem with is not working to achieve your goals. I would rather take risks and fail, than be paralyzed by the "what if" for the rest of my life...

The truth of the matter is, we're all going to die. It's not even "most likely", it's a certainty. Would this be a reason for not living?

The people who get married and usually divorce in a few years are those who get married for the WRONG REASONS. There are so many couples who have an un-planned pregnancy, get married and have a child with the false misconception that it's going to mend or improve their potentially shaky relationship. Couples are getting married at VERY young ages; and usually after knowing their partner for a short amount of time. At this point they are still in the stages of infatuation, not love. Don't get me wrong, my husband and I got married when we were 19, but we're still together going on two years and we're happier than ever. Also relationships that turn into marriages that have a history of dishonesty, distrust and the like almost 99% of the time result in divorce. But relationships that are built on honesty, trust and mutual respect are the couples you hear about in the local newspapers celebrating their 65th Anniversary.

Not everyone gets divorced in 2 years. I married my husband because I love him. It was the best "waste" of money and time! We are happier now than we were when we were just dating. It only gets better and better with each passing day.
I'm sorry you don't have anyone to marry... maybe if you were more optimistic you could find a bride.

What an uplifting and hopeful thought...that's true for too many people who marry anyone they've successfully dated for 6 months and think that means something...or for 18 year old kids who don't understand marriage is not the 'thing to do"...you marry because you've dated enough to know what you do and do not value in a partner, you are able to stand on your own 2 feet, without help from mom, dad, or anyone else, and you are mature enough to know that sometimes life is hard, and that doesn't mean you walk away, it means you work at it--and you've found just that one special person who makes all your dreams about how wonderful life can be come true.

People nowadays do not know what love truly is. They are too taken over by all the sex ect... that is shown on television. People believe lust is love and that will take them to marry someone they hardly get along with just because they are hot. So though some people divorce some truly find love and keep it for life.

Why start a business; It's most likely to go bankrupt or get robbed or burned down or flooded out or? Hey, that's what insurance is for to cover your losses, right? at least that's what they say. Is there an insurance for marriage too? hmm. There are other married couples who have survived and grow together in love and commitment. How did they do it? Maybe it's worth checking it all out.

Because eventually you'll have that weak moment and say "I do" and that's part of life. Some kids that want to change the cycle of disfunctionality that they see may wait until later in life to get married, mostly because of the security issues they have. I know from experience. Both sides of the issue. You'll know when it's right. Remember when it comes to multiple choice, if you're not sure, you first guess is usually right!
