Ret. Sgt. the movie is actually called an inconvenient truth and yes i have seen it!! i thought it was scary because it's real and it's happening!! and to face the fact the U.S.A is the biggest contributor to global warming so they're not trying to make the U.S sound bad or anything but their just telling the truth!! and they do over exaggerate global warming( but only a little cause it's the truth) but they do that to get people's attention to focus on the real issue!! so ya it's a real problem that is happening!! and i don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but we have to face the truth sooner or later!! so all the non-believers of global warming: it's real and it's up to us( by us i mean us individually and us as a nation)to stop it so we can have a better future!!

The Al Gore movie uses the propaganda technique of combining some information that is factually true with the propaganda that is false. The purpose of the factual information is to give credibility to the propaganda.

This movie is essentially a propaganda movie designed to scare the living daylights out of you.

The movie is essentially free advertising for a new company that Al Gore started up to sell carbon credits to rich liberals so they can assuage their guilt for living in their enormous mansions that use over 10 times the amount of energy that a family of 4 uses and fly their private jets all over the place, even though their private jets use over 1,000 times the amount of fossil fuel per mile as the most wasteful SUV.

Al Gore will make hundreds of millions of dollars from this venture.

If we were to cut back the production of greenhouse gases in the United States to zero, that still would not be enough of a cutback to stop the component of Global Warmiing that is caused by human activity.

Unfortunately, if we made a cutback in the greenhouse gases that we produce to zero, the negative consequences would be enormous. The economy of the United States would be destroyed. This would cause a depression far worse than the depression that we experienced in the 1930's.

We would be desperate and miserable, many people would die of starvation and hypothermia, and we would not have even accomplished our goal of stopping Global Warming.

Nope. Nor have I seen the Great Global Warming Swindle or whatever it is called.

Watching a "documentary" and absorbing what the "documentarian" wants you to absorb is far different from actually taking the time to search for journal articles in the scientific literature. Taking the time to read the journals is hard, the methodology sections are generally difficult to assess as a non-expert, but the abstracts, discussion, and conclusions sections of each paper usually lay out what the authors want to say in clear language.

The US will not cut emissions because our emissions alone will not make a bit of difference. Europes emissions are growing, as are China, India, and Japans. One country cannot make a difference. Even the EU-15 cannot make a difference in global CO2 concentrations.

With that said, there are plenty of papers out there that support other mechanisms for cousing global warming. The current warming we are seeing hasn't been fully explained yet. Therefore there is no reason to go off willy-nilly making ridiculous policy and emissions changes. Willy-nilly always runs smack into the law of unintended consequences. Prudence, more science, and caution should be the tack we take at this time.

It is scary because it's true. Some of these people will tell you it's not, but less than two months ago a group of scientists meeting under the aegis of the United Nations issued a 1576 page statement in which they agreed that global warming, or climate change as it is sometimes called, is real and is manmade. Someone else has already told you why our country is dragging its feet. They're right. It all comes down to oil and big business.

I'm a right-wing conservative. I used to think that global warming was a hoax; I thought it was a way for Democratic politicians to get scare-votes and to distract or mislead the public about society's real problems. However, after watching Al Gore's movie (I watched it out of curiousity), my views on the environment changed radically: I became alarmed about the current global warming situation. I found Mr. Gores views to be very credible, despite not having thought them credible before I even watched his movie; he was very convincing.

To answer your question: Why does the U.S. government not cut green-house gasses? The answer: Because not enough people realize the global warming threat. They buy into the skeptic-viewpoint: They think, "Gee! there was a global warming-period during the middle-ages when cars and other technological advances were not around; therefore, global warming today is not caused by mankind or his technology, but by natural occurances like in the middle-ages!" Well, yes, they're partly right: There WAS a global warming period during the middle-ages. However, they're wrong about the extent of today's global warming and the extent of the middle-age's global warming: There's no like comparison; global warming is happening at a much higher rate, expanding faster and than it has during the last 650,000 years' global warming periods.

The aforesaid - so many people don't realize it. Even many of our politicians and law-makes (who we all expect to be intelligent) do not realize it (or they just chose not to believe in it). And that, my friend, is why our incompetant government has neglected the needs of our environment.

You mean the movie " An Inconsistent Truth"? They got you believing it by watching a movie and now the USA is evil and promotes global warming. Do you really want the rest of the world deciding what each country can have or do?

Get some real facts and dont believe the movies. If everything that happened in the movies was real, the whole world would be gone already a number of times over. Check out the "paying for carbon footprint scam". Seehow money is generated and who it goes to. Then maybe you'll see its another way to make money.

Is the world getting warmer,? Maybe. Is mankind responsible for it? I dont think so. I think it is a natural trend and has been for thousands of years.

Time after time, the world has looked to the USA to solve its problems. The way the USA has done this in the past is through a strong economy and industrial/technological base.

If the USA cuts emissions based on the spurious claim that they are affecting the climate, then there will likely be a slowdown in the economic benefits for the world, and the world will have less of a chance to adapt to the changes in climate that are occurring whether we do anything or not. (For example, note that Greenland used to be warmer than it is today.)

It is also over exagerated, even to the point that serious proponents of man made global warming as an issue have criticized it as lacking credibility and thus, creating doubt about the importance of the issue.

My sister was made to watch it in her college science class.
Many of her classmates (including her) thought it was ridiculous, but the instructor would not let anyone question the movie. She said it was scientific fact and could not be disputed. That's what scares me about it.
Pretty soon we will all be made to salute with a "Heil Gore!"

What is scary is how easily the uneducated masses are swayed. And how complicit and dishonest those who propagate this terrorism for the sake of what is otherwise a good cause.
