I plan to go to different ad agencies and hand out my resume. I was wondering, should I dress business casual (i.e. slacks and a nice button down shirt nicely manicured) or should I go full throttle and put on a business suit? REMEMBER it is quite hot outside?

Wear something that is business casual, and bring a "business casual jacket" too. That way, if you feel you are not dressed enough, pull on the jacket. You want to wear something that can be interpreted as casual or "i mean business". and remember. no visible cleavage.

Dress as you would for the interview - image is especially important in advertising. Hang the jacket in the car and put it on before you walk into the agency. You never know who might be walking through the lobby just as you're handing out your resume - and the receptionist is a lot more likely to get a "who WAS that?" if you're looking fine.

Good luck.

I would go full throttle because sometimes that is right when they say, "Do you have a minute to go over your resume?"
Then before you know it, it is the recruiting manager that asks you the questions. It is kind of a like a "pre-interview" to screen you for the real thing.

slacks and a nice shirt, it shows your trying but not that hard. Save the suit for the interview to give 100%!

always dress better than the part you're going for. People form their impressions within 5 seconds (you can check that if you don't believe me), so the way you present yourself could mean a "yes" or a "no" to EVEN an interview.

I nice basic skirt (nothing above the knee) would be an acceptable alternative to slacks. Good luck with your job search!
