I would love to see a pie chart of this. How much money do they make off their fans vs advertisers.

Nascar does not get money for tv commercials, they sold the rights to TV networks for 6 billion dollars a few years ago and the tv networks and stations are getting paid back thru the commercials. Radio pays a little too.

Nascar gets a cut of the total ticket sales from the tracks for sanctioning the events.

Nascar gets paid by Nextel, Busch, Goodyear, Home depot etc. All the official products or services of nascar pay money for the right to do so. Car companies pay to provide pace cars etc. Companies pay for the right to have a race named after their company or product.

The teams do pay entry fees.

Nascar gets paid for the Nascar logo on shirts, hats and other merchandise.

The owners of Nascar also own some of the tracks and make money that way.

The big chunck of mony comes from the sponsors (The official What ever of NASCAR) and advertisers(the reason for so many commercials).
After the sponsors and advertisers come the race teams, yes they pay to race. Then the fans pay their share.

I think they get the most money from commercials. That's why we only get to see 5% of the race while the other 95% is commercials that we've alrady seen hundreds of times. Which is one of the reasons I record the race and watch later so I can fast forward.
