If nothig had happened in the 3 weeks since the cambelt change, it's unlikely that it's the garage's fault. Changing the cambelt - whilst a bastard of a job - isn't all that tricky and a fairly simple process to get everything lined up again afterwards (I've done it myself).

Seeing as the Redex was added just before the light came on, I'd imagine you've destroyed / put your lambda sensor out of sorts. Let the tank run down, then fill up with unleaded and see what happens to that after 100 miles or so. You may find that the oxygen levels in the exhaust (detected by the Lambda sensor) return to normal and the management system is ok with this. If you still get the problem, try going for a diagnostic @ Ford to get the actual cause of the problem. No matter what the problem is, go to a scrap/salvage yard for the spare part. Fords are remarkably common in these places (mainly due to the amount sold - more on road means more crashes, nothign to do with safety/reliability) so getting your hands on the parts should be a doddle and a lot more wallet friendly than a new part.

EG, Lambda sensor for (my) 1994 Honda Accord = £135 from Dealer, £60 from breaker. Guess what I bought? It worked a treat!

All the best, good luck to you :-)

the best thing to do is to go to the garage and they will plug a laptop into car via a OBD port. this will tell them what the problem is.
