Do you mean Global Warming or do you mean Anthropomorphic Global Warming aka AGW? (human caused global warming)

I don't know of too many people who don't "believe in" global warming. It's an established fact that the Earth is .5 degrees Celsius warmer than it was 30 years ago.

If you mean why don't people believe in AGW then that is easier to explain.

AGW is a theory not fact. The saddest part is that our current environment proves the theory is untrue. There is probably no sense in going into that because you seem to be a 'believer' and therefore would tune out anything that does not agree with your already formed world view. It’s like telling a Christian something is the bible is proven not to be true. They just will not listen no matter how much evidence.

On that note, AGW does seem to fulfill a empty place in the hearts of many humans.

It allows them feel guilt and moral superiority over others even going so far as to denounce any who do not BELIEVE. (see the posts below)

It also allows people to imagine a time when the Earth was pure and untainted by nasty humans.

It allows them a nice apocalyptic end-of-world story.

It let's people attribute ANYTHING that happens in nature to AGW (Winter was harsher than ever? It’s the AGW Monster! Winter was Milder than ever? It the AGW Monster! Rainy this spring? AGW! Dry this spring? AGW! Earthquakes in Bangladesh? AGW Baby!)

In short, AGW fulfils every aspect of most major religions.
The Garden of Eden story
The Guilt and self denuciation.
The arrogance of self-righteousness. (Including denouncing heretics, non belivers and deniers!)
Signs and portents.
End of world story.

Ignoring everything that refutes your religion and exaggerating everything that supports your religion.

You even have a few anointed Saints (Gore, DeCaprio) and a chapter of Revelations! (Earth in the Balance)

And like most religions it is full of hypocrites. In your case it's "save the Earth" bumper stickers and a Saint Algore who personifies conspicuous consumption and excuses it by selling himself indulgences (Carbon Credits)

Now, it's as good/bad a religion as any but like many scientific people I am not a very religious person. So I don't believe in your religion. Like other religions though I gladly leave you in peace to burn your offerings to your saints and gods but I would respectfully ask that you stop trying to force me to follow your religion.

Thank you

You got it Elite Lady, couldn't put it better myself. There are more scientists saying it's a scam than the other way round. The ones that are saying global warming is happening are payed by governments and governments want more taxes. So what better way than to charge us for CO2 we put into the air. I still can't work out how CO2 can heat up the planet. I'm sitting here in the south pacific freezing with the same amount of CO2 around me as two months ago when I was stripped down to the waist. If CO2 has such heat retaining qualities then why do thermos flasks have a vacuum space around them?

Elite Lady, I'd like to SEE your citations. Just what does this PhD have his doctorate IN?? Political Science? Just because a person has a PhD, ir doesn't mean a thing. NOW if this person has a PhD in Climatology, I MAY take his statement a bit more seriously. However from the WAY that he has made his statement I sincerely doubt his veracity. He makes NO scientific assertions only judgemental assertions which hold NO water in a scientific discussion. Where is his data? What are his citations? What are his cfredentials? His statements are spurious at best, opinionated at worst. NOT the mark of a reputable scientist at all.

worldwide warming isn't a certainty as maximum of you have stated. the communicate nevertheless rages on. even with what the yank media comments, there are nevertheless a majority of scientists interior the scholarly community who do no longer have faith worldwide Warming is a situation. whether it incredibly is then the reasons are much extra debateable. The earth is over 4.3 billion years previous, and throughout the historic previous of the earth there have been many temperature swings that final for hundreds of hundreds to thousands and thousands of years. with the objective to point that on the constrained climate documents human beings have accumulated, there's a definitive vogue isn't something in need of a wild wager. -Geologist

Actually most people think it is a serious problem. There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

Many skeptics are conservatives who take their ideology to an extreme. If liberals, environmentalists, or, worst yet, Al Gore, say something it must be wrong.

That may change some, as undisputed conservatives are coming to accept global warming as real, because of the overwhelming scientific evidence.

""Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives Tuesday to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

Because we are stupid? What a load of crap.

This question is spectacular in its ability to draw out the insulting answers. The only problem is that the question is poorly framed and makes no distinction between natural causes, man-made cause, or some combination of both.

The fact that so many people instantly assume that their position is the ONLY correct position and then use that assumption to belittle those that disagree with them is very telling of the state of knowledge of many posters in the GW section.

I have dozens of papers that call into question the role of CO2 in our current temperature run up. Some say it matters not, others say it has a small effect, others say it is the primary driver.

The debate isn't over, the science isn't settled, not even close.

A few years ago some scientist decided that the speed of light was not constant. That disproved Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Basically, scientists can never prove everything beyond a shadow of a doubt. That causes many people to come up with other theories. Until we have evidence that proves that takes away any doubt people will always have other ideas.

People don't believe in human caused global warming. And they're like that.. because they're better educated about the subject than you.

People believe it, it is because it is no big deal that it's ignored. Yes, clean the air. All with any brains at all want that. But other than that there is little we can really do about it. Even if you stopped all Greenhouse gases right now, absolutely nothing would happen. Peace

Who causes global warming is the question. And people can beleive what every they want because we don't know what causes the earth to warm. Are you a sheep?
