While your Grandpa isn't nearly as old, a gift that we have given to our Grandparents has been from the online store
a la zing.com It is owned by Omaha Steaks and sends wonderful meals in various sizes, types and prices to the recipient. This is probably a better idea for your parents then yourself since you must be younger if you have a grandparent in his mid 60's. If you have an Entertainment book they have coupons with a great discount.
Whether you are young or old, I think everyone that has said the gift of time is right. Put his name on your calendar every week or two and give him a call or send him a letter. It will truly mean the world to him.

I'm almost 65 myself and what I would want is a nice birthday card and a picture of my grandson, perhaps also with his parents included.

Nothing means more to the older folks than to sit and spend time with their family. Talk about anything. Get a card with large print and don't be in such a hurry to leave because you have "something else to do"

When my dad turned 60 we got stuff from his birth year. Candies of the time, newspapers from the day, some comic books (we even found old playboy magazines from his birth year).
Things that will remiind him of what it was like in his younger years.

You don't have to buy him anything. Just spend a few hours with him talking. Don't mean for this to be a downer, but you never know about the future.
