smoking wont have an affect on your tat, i've seen ppl smoking while they get their tattoos done. pain killers and drinking booze is bad though, you bleed while getting a tattoo and these things will thin out your blood. if u have to take pain killers or get drugged up, then your not ready for a tattoo. wait until your emotionally ready, being nervous while getting a tat makes it hurt more, u have to focus ur attention on something else and learn how to take the pain

I don't really see what it's got to do with your family, since you're the one getting the tattoo. But anyway, there's a cream you can have applied called amatop, the tattoo artist can tell you about it, they apply it for about an hour before you get the tattoo and it numbs the area some. I've never used it myself so I can't comment on how good it is. Personally, I'd just tell them to get lost. They're not getting the tattoo, you are. But obviously you don't want to do that, so tell them taking something could cause more harm and risk that anything and wont actually numb the pain anyway.

I've smoked while getting a tattoo,so I don't think it will hurt you. As for the pain killer, if your that worried about the pain maybe tattoo's aren't for you. They really don't hurt that bad.

I smoked while getting one of my tattoos and it wasn't a problem, though I doubt most tattoo shops would let you do that. At one shop we took a break and went outside to smoke, that was probably the worst idea ever though, the smoking wasn't the bad part taking a break just made it seem to hurt worse when they went back to it. I wouldn't suggest a painkiller since they can upset your stomache and that would be a bad thing while you are getting the tattoo.

Smoking is probably fine but I have to give you a no on the pain killer. Plus it dosent hurt all that bad that your going to need a pain killer to get through it.

I read that taking a pain killer thins the blood which is bad when getting a tattoo, meaning when you get a tattoo if you bleed there will be more blood loss.

not sure about smoking but taking pain killers of any kind will thin your blood and cause you to bleed more. some artists will not tattoo you if they think you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, others will.

It won't hurt you.. I know alot of people who take a pain killer and valium. They really don't hurt. After the first 5 minutes your body releases eprinephrine that helps your body react to the needle.. It turns it numb after about 10 minutes.. I have 8 tattoos myself...I love them.. There very addicting..

Smoking isn't a problem, just do it outside the studio.

Painkillers aren't good though. They can thin your blood. If you take something heavy-duty, it can impair your judgement.

You really don't need painkillers for tattoos. They don't really hurt, they're just uncomfortable for a while. Honestly.
