If you like him, tell him the same thing back, except say "you're not so bad yourself". Add a little mystery about yourself. I think it's a nice compliment for a guy to be so open it (if he wasn't salivating when he said it)
If you don't like him, thank him, while rushing to get away or start a conversation with someone nearby, so that he gets the hint that you're not interested.

Just smile and turn the other way as in don't ever react in a way that you're shocked or react in such a way like you're too flatterd and so eager to hear. You don't know the real intention of the guy if only to flatter and get something out of it or just plain flatter, or make fun of you. To be safe, just smile and put your attention somewhere else. Also, so as not to be seen that you're easy. Always, behave with modesty, you'll gain more respect. God bless you....

Well it depends on how you are as a person, if it sounds genuine just say thank you politely, if it's someone who you wouldn't give the time of day just unleash the sarcasm like my little sister does. If this person is attractive comment on their hotness too.
