For some maybe. I think in general, women pretty much dress according to their upbringing; whatever it may have been. We may stray occasionally, but we always revert back to what we know.
I am not flashly, but not completely conservative. I try different things, trends and stuff, but always end up back where I started; What my mama taught me.
Peace.

Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones but I almost said Runnin With The Devil. Devil Went Down to Georgia is a great Charlie Daniels and the Devil With The Blue Dress is a true classic. Not a bad song in the bunch.

OK, you got an expert opinion here! I'm a media studies student (in fact my exam is TOMORROW!) and I've been looking at the way the media influences audiences all year. This is my personal opinion.
It really depends on the person. Magazines and advertsing put pressure on people to buy their products, wear the right things, to be popular. Some people are swayed by this. Others succumb to peer pressure, especially teenage girls. And others, like me, think fashion is ridiculous and prefer to stick with comfort :)

indirectly yes. figures on movies, tv's magazines all tell women that to be beautiful you must wear the best makeup, the best tightest-fitting clothes and live at the gym. The media only pushes the insecurities of most women and women go to two outlets. one, they are super-skinny, super fashionable, gym-lovers and high in debt. Or, they go the other route. I don't think the media is a "devil", because i think every woman has a right to be herself and make her own expectations and rules, live how she wants to, butr still take care of herself and look good.

Media is not the problem. The problem is advertising and the hold that advertising has on America. Turn off your TV. Tune in the Radio. Fashion on the radio is very much dictated by your imagination. Using your imagination and intuition will pay big dividends later on.

The media is the devil in all aspects. They steal, kill and destroy people's lives then move on to the next "great" story.

I dress in what's affordable and comfortable. I don't really pay attention to the media in that respect.

No. The girl next to us is the one dictating what we wear when we try to one-up her.
We women are catty!

I don't listen to the media at all, so this isn't a problem for me.

Nope. Women have minds of their own and can dress anyway they want.
