Reporting vulgar post cleans things up a bit. What's wrong with that.

I wonder who reported me to the point that I lost an 8 year old account. Email, 8 years of business emails, personal things, jokes, photos, all gone because someone was 'offended' by something I said, I don't know what...
Well Debra, I figure it was a lesson learned, the hard way, my usual way of learning. Now I have a email account that is used strictly for serious business. And I am not even mad. I did stay away for 4 months, when you came back I had just been on here a week or so I think. I said 'There is Debra!' Well Debra--long time no see, nice to be back! HA HA!

I have noticed it more today. And, the ones that I have seen getting deleted were really no biggie, you know.
If it is porn avatar's, yes I think it should be reported because of children being here. Or if it is just an absolutely vulgar post.
To go around reporting just because you don't agree. We could all learn something from each other in some way . . .

I don't report things that are chatty, even though that's a violation. I don't report people who are trying to be funny, because they make me laugh and they make this a more fun place to be. I most certainly do not report someone just because I disagree with them.
However, I DO report a user when they are using a porno photograph. It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes someone will put up a picture of naked people in sexual poses, and this is really inappropriate. I do report them. There are kids on the site, not to mention adults who shouldn't have to view porn when coming to a Question and Answer site.
I also report questions or answers that express violence against a particular religion or race. I've seen some people on here actually advocate violence against a group of people. That I consider it my moral duty to report!
Maybe I'm wrong to do this, but I just feel that these things are despicable and need to be taken off the site.
Other than those 2 kinds of posts, I do not report.
Oh wait....Yes, actually I DO report questions once in a while if I feel they are attacking another user on here. It depends on the nature of the question. I usually ignore those, but sometimes, they are really nasty. I report them if they are trying to make a good user look bad.

There is no excuse for someone being crude or vulgar. I can understand questions and answers like that being reported.
Now, religion is subjective to all people and I don't believe a person should be reported because they asked a question or answered a question that someone felt was offending their personal faith.

I only report questions that are hate speech. Insults are one thing, but when the question is not only insulting, but incites violence, degrades a specific group, and is barely a question at all then yes, I do feel I have a responsibility to report it. This forum has set rules against certain behaviors and while I am all for free speech, I refuse to put up with hate speech when we have rules against it.
Doesn't mean it happens often, and I don't bother reporting questions that are just, in my opinion, stupid.

No, I think some people, a few, are just vindictive and mean spirited. What does amaze me, however, is some of the stuff that doesn't get deleted. Especially in the GLBT section.

I do not get involved in the battle of the reporting between either side.
I do see it on both and mostly today I see it w/Christians getting reported for asking questions about prayer...one person said, reported on account of not knowing prayer was stupid. That's ridiculous.
I think it is petty b/s on either side grow up people

I agree with you on this. The ones getting deleted shouldn't be. I've seen others that I wish would get deleted but I still leave them alone.

Yes. It is most unproductive use of time and the report button. One minute you're here, then next minute your account is in YA! Heaven (or Hell). Its really just the circle of life here in the R&S section.
